Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jerzy Killer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
26 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Amun Ra! The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Wagner Zegers and Paul Aken.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Killer tries to land a front kick but Ra steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Ra feints the counter takedown. Killer gets in close and instigates a clinch. Ra throws a head punch that misses. Ra tries for a takedown but Killer manages to get underhooks.
Ra lands with a right to the head. A short uppercut from Ra. Killer throws an elbow but it's blocked.
A nice left hand lands by Ra.
A head punch on the inside from Killer fails to land. Ra tries for a takedown. No joy.
Ra is trying to drag Killer to the mat but Killer just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Jerzy Killer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Amun Ra. Killer gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Ra.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Killer has Ra pushed against the cage. The referee calls for Ra to work.
Killer prevents a body shot from Ra.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ra wants a takedown.
Ra has Killer pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Killer manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Ra blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Ra has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Knees in the clinch landing for Killer.
Ra lands an uppercut. Killer misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Ra.
Killer is trying to stall.
Killer lands a glancing elbow in the clinch. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Stalling in the clinch from Killer.
Killer gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Killer prevents a body shot from Ra. Ra lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Our sources have told us that Killer has been working on his knees in the buildup to the fight. Killer pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. Killer throws an elbow but it misses.
Killer tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Ra avoids it. Ra scores with a shot to the side of Killer's head. Ra breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Killer darts in and clinches Ra up against the cage. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Killer tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Ra avoids it. Ra lands with a short head shot on the inside. Killer looking to stall.
Ra tries to stall but Killer uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Ra is looking for a takedown. Killer scores with a shoulder strike. Ra misses with a hook to the ribs.
Ra is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Killer gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Ra working some nice short punches in the clinch. Ra pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Ra connects with a body shot. Killer darts in and clinches Ra up against the cage. Ra tightens his grip and picks Killer up, before dumping him to the ground. Killer manages to land in guard. Killer working a defensive guard here.
Killer wants to get back to his feet but Ra is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Killer preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Ra is looking to work some ground and pound but Killer has wrist control. Ra missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Ra looking to pass the guard. Killer is looking to stand up but Ra isn't so interested in that idea. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Ra postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Ra scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Killer pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Killer fails with an attempt to clinch.
Ra catches Killer napping and connects with a big right hand that sends Killer to the canvas!
Killer is rocked!
It looks like Jerzy Killer has been cut. Ra gets to his feet and stands over Killer, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Killer felt that one! Ra unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Killer from any more punishment!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Amun Ra!
