Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between David Lang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vesa Sykk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lang comes to the cage accompanied by I take it up the ass - by lil wayne. The crowd seem to be enjoying Sykk's choice of entrance music: Rage Against The Machine - Killing In The Name . Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, David Lang!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Vesa Sykk!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Steven Brown and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sykk uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Lang has time to react.


It looks like David Lang has been cut.
Sykk throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Sykk pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Lang throws out a loose jab but Sykk uses good head movement to avoid it.
Lang sizes up Sykk with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Lang looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Lang lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Lang scores with a leg kick.

Sykk fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Lang, pushing him back against the cage.
Lang tries to circle away but Sykk has him pinned against the cage.
Lang is looking to break free of the clinch but Sykk has double underhooks.

Sykk tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Sykk blocks a body shot from Lang.
Lang working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Lang dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.

Sykk pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Lang looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Lang can't find room to land a body shot as Sykk controls the action.
Sykk throws an elbow but it misses.

Sykk bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Lang's head.

Lang changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Lang slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Sykk slips a jab and a cross from Lang.

and Sykk counters with a straight right hand.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

David Lang seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sykk moves to clinch but Lang breaks away

and Lang counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Lang trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sykk looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Lang working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Lang trying to control the position from guard on top but Sykk is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Lang's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Lang avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Sykk is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Sykk escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lang gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Lang trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

David Lang dominated that round.
The cut man is working on David Lang's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Lang turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Sykk uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Lang.
Lang throws a looping overhand right but Sykk ducks down to avoid it.
Sykk throws a fast counter high kick but Lang manages to duck under it in time.
Lang misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Lang decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Sykk wants to improve his position but Lang is controlling well.
Lang is trying to control the action in half guard but Sykk is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Lang looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sykk keeping control of the position.

Lang trying to mount his opponent but Sykk defends it.
Sykk misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Lang passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Sykk!
Lang lands a big shot there that rocks Sykk but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Lang trying to control but Sykk is having none of it.
Lang postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Sykk looks a forlorn figure.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lang controlling from mount.
Lang trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Lang is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Lang lands a couple of good shots and Sykk has given up his back, trying to escape the position!


Sykk is rocked!
Sykk covers up after that shot from Lang.
Sykk is still in real trouble! Can Lang finish him?

Lang scoring with big shots to the body. Sykk is looking for a way out. A despairing look towards the ref and the official steps in to stop the fight. Sykk was obviously done but didn't want to tap out.

David Lang made sure to give a little speech post fight, saying 'This is my world. Good fight Mr sykk but I couldnt let you come down here and beat me. Im glad to be apart of this epic event and I look forward to fucking the shit outta someone from ams fc'.
