Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Takeshi Naoki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Genghis Khan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Khan has chosen Mongol as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Takeshi Naoki!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Genghis Khan!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Daniel Bishop and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khan throws the left hand but Naoki avoids the punch easily.
Naoki takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Khan gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Khan tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
An inside leg kick from Naoki misses.
Khan throws a series of punches but Naoki avoids them all with ease.
Naoki half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Khan blocks a leg kick.
Khan steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Naoki.
Naoki uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Khan has time to react.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Naoki looks to land a right hand but Khan moved out of range.

Naoki postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Khan is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Naoki, into his guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Khan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Naoki swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Naoki jabs Khan to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Naoki takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Naoki bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Naoki closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Naoki lands in his opponent's guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Khan escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Naoki gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Khan has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Naoki can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Naoki wants to pass the guard but Khan is defending well.

Naoki is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Khan is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Khan throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Naoki sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Khan throws an overhand right that lands on Naoki's shoulder, as Naoki tries to avoid the shot.
Naoki walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Khan checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

In his post fight interview, Takeshi Naoki started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
Genghis Khan was interviewed post fight and said 'I am not your father!'.
