Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
20 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Miguel Camacho! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
18 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tyson Jacobs! The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Sam Margolis and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jab by Camacho. Jacobs has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight. Camacho avoids the head kick by Jacobs.
Camacho's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Jacobs connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Camacho scrambles back to his feet. Camacho will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Nice sprawl there from Camacho as Jacobs shoots in. Jacobs misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Camacho digs a right hand underneath Jacobs's ribcage. Jacobs let out a lung full of air as it connected. Jacobs breaks from the clinch.
Camacho scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Jacobs throws a body kick despite being completely out of range and Jacobs takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. A clash of legs there as Jacobs blocks the low kick. Camacho digs a good hook to Jacobs's body.
Camacho goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. This has been an exciting period of action! Jacobs avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Jacobs with the counter takedown but Camacho avoids it easily. A good leg kick by Jacobs.
That's one minute gone in the round. Camacho misses with a series of wild punches.
And Jacobs tries to counter it with a takedown but Camacho pushes his down on his head and steps out. Camacho throws a nice outside leg kick. Camacho ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Camacho throws a front kick that sends Jacobs stumbling back into the cage. A telegraphed right hand from Camacho misses the target. Camacho scores with a kick to the midsection. Jacobs looks winded! Camacho throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Jacobs drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Camacho defends it well. We've been told by Camacho's head coaches at Furia Top Team that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Jacobs plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Camacho throws a head kick that misses. Camacho feints and then cracks Jacobs's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Jacobs down. Jacobs looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Camacho takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Camacho clobbers Jacobs with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Miguel Camacho is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Camacho lands a jab to the head.
Jacobs is looking to land body kicks. Camacho swings away with a leg kick that misses. Jacobs drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Camacho defends it well. Jacobs has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Camacho. Jacobs scores with a hook. Camacho with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Jacobs throws a body kick despite being completely out of range and Camacho makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Camacho misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Jacobs.
Camacho takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Camacho throws an overhand right that lands on Jacobs's shoulder, as Jacobs tries to avoid the shot. Camacho fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Jacobs is out of range. Jacobs feints the counter takedown. Camacho scores with a jab.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A nice leg kick lands there from Camacho. Camacho scores with a jab to the head.
Camacho lands a big uppercut and Jacobs crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Jacobs looks OK. Camacho waves Jacobs back to his feet!
Jacobs is rocked! Camacho throws out a leg kick but Jacobs moves out of range and Camacho only half commits. Jacobs is still on wobbly legs! Can Camacho finish him? Jacobs takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Jacobs seems to have recovered his senses. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Camacho is looking to slow Jacobs down with leg kicks. Camacho pounces like a tiger and cracks Jacobs with a vicious hook! Jacobs is down but not out! Camacho follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Miguel Camacho! Miguel Camacho retains his light heavyweight title! A relieved looking Miguel Camacho thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
