Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Andersen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, David Smith!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Michael Andersen!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Dillan Fox and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Smith.
Andersen tries a head kick but it misses.
Andersen fails with a takedown attempt.
Smith looks to land a combination but Andersen avoids it well.
Smith swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Smith scores with a jab.
Andersen shoots in looking for a takedown. Smith tries to sprawl out of it but Andersen keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Smith manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Andersen digs a good body shot into Smith's ribs.
Smith doesn't manage to clinch there - Andersen circles away.

Andersen feints and as Smith raises his hands in defense, Andersen changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Smith working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Andersen doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Andersen manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Andersen decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Smith, up you get!

Smith throws a right and a left that Andersen avoids nicely.
Smith tries to clinch but Andersen moves out of range.
Smith throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Smith moves into range and clinches up with Andersen.
Smith has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Andersen is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Smith breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Smith is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Andersen takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

and Andersen counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Andersen shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Smith as he jumps to the side.
David Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Michael Andersen.

Smith has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Andersen is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Smith has Andersen pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Smith pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Andersen tumbling to the mat - Smith dives into Andersen's guard.

and Andersen holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Smith lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Andersen wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Andersen has Smith pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Smith manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Smith breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Smith throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

David Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Smith looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Andersen is fending him off so far but Smith persists. Nope, Andersen circles away and we're back to standing.

Andersen throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Smith counters with a two punch combo.
Smith lands with a kick to the temple. Andersen shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Andersen takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Smith swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Smith lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Smith.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Smith decides to stand back up. Smith steps back and let's Andersen get back to his feet.
Smith rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Andersen moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Smith takes the fight into the clinch.
Andersen throws a head punch that misses.
Smith can't get the takedown.

David Smith overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Andersen stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

You can see the frustration on Andersen's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Smith slips a nice elbow through Andersen's hands, connecting with Andersen's forehead.

Smith tries to clinch there but Andersen circles away.

and Smith counters with a two punch combo.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Smith takes the fight into the clinch.
Andersen stalls.
Andersen prevents a takedown attempt there.
Andersen is trying to break the clinch but Smith has him pressed against the cage.

Smith pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Smith is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Smith wants to clinch up but Andersen keeps it at a distance.
David Smith is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Andersen throws a head kick that misses.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Smith will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Smith tries to close the distance and clinch up but Andersen swats him away and circles back towards the center.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Andersen is fighting off a takedown attempt but Smith is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Andersen to the mat. Andersen regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.

Smith changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Andersen looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Andersen tries to buck Smith off but Smith is having none of it.
Andersen wants to get back to his feet but Smith is dominant here and he's now got Andersen's back!

Andersen is squirming around looking to escape but he's just wriggling himself into more trouble. Smith sinks in the hooks and manages to tighten his grip on a rear naked choke. Andersen has no choice but to tap and Smith jumps to his feet to celebrate and slick submission win!
