PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mark Gilas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Sioldster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gilas comes to the cage accompanied by Remember The Name - Fort Minor. Sioldster has chosen Chaos - Burgatory as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Mark Gilas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mike Sioldster!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Ivan Kurochkin and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gilas bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Gilas uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Sioldster.
Gilas throws a lazy right hand but Sioldster sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Sioldster lands a two punch combo.
Gilas throws a jab but it's blocked by Sioldster.
Sioldster throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Sioldster pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Gilas feinted with a counter takedown.
Sioldster takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gilas misses with the combination.
Sioldster slips a jab from Gilas.
Gilas scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Sioldster doesn't seem bothered though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gilas bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Gilas misses the shot to the body.
Gilas has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Gilas there as he acknowledges the shot.
Sioldster misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Gilas.
Gilas cracks Sioldster with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.


It looks like Mike Sioldster has been cut.
Gilas throws a nice looking combination but Sioldster bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Sioldster has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Sioldster uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Gilas.
Sioldster shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Gilas eats them both and turns towards Sioldster to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
A big right from Gilas misses.
Sioldster looks like he wants to counter punch here.

and Gilas counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

Gilas sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Sioldster defending well though.
Sioldster really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gilas. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Gilas throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Sioldster is trying to control but can't.
Gilas scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Gilas missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

Gilas prevents Sioldster from improving his position.
Sioldster keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Gilas winds up and cracks Sioldster with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Gilas seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Sioldster is looking to get back to full guard here but Gilas has managed to pass to side control instead.
Gilas is working Sioldster over with some ground and pound from side control.
Gilas is looking to take a break and control but Sioldster is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sioldster can do anything to dispel that myth.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Sioldster tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Gilas wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Gilas creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Sioldster sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Gilas looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Sioldster is avoiding damage well.
The ground and pound from Gilas seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Sioldster is looking to reverse the position.
Gilas misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Gilas has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Gilas cracks Sioldster with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Gilas wants to control but Sioldster is keeping him busy.
Gilas lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Sioldster down.

You can see the frustration on Sioldster's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The cut above Mike Sioldster's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Gilas works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Sioldster takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.


Mike Sioldster's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Mike Sioldster's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Mark Gilas!
Mark Gilas decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
In defeat, Mike Sioldster stepped up to the mic, saying 'Back to The gym. Hopefully our team in The Holding cell can help! Great job, Gilas'.
