Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bobby Mandirigma! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Louis Prince! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Prince has closed the distance and engaged Mandirigma in a clinch.
Mandirigma blocking some punches.
Prince tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Mandirigma avoids it. Prince working aggressively here.
Prince has Mandirigma pressed against the cage.
Prince tries for a takedown but Mandirigma manages to get underhooks.
Come on Prince - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Mandirigma is looking to break free of the clinch but Prince has double underhooks. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mandirigma prevents a body shot from Prince. Prince has hold of one of Mandirigma's legs. Mandirigma is fighting the takedown attempt but Prince gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Prince engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Mandirigma wants to get back to his feet but Prince is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
That's one minute gone in the round. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Prince drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Prince jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Prince works over Mandirigma with some ground and pound from guard. Prince stays in close to Mandirigma's body and controls the position. Mandirigma knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Prince on the ground. Prince's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Let's hope that Prince has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Prince sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Mandirigma's guard. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Prince connects with a nice short shot to Mandirigma's temple. Prince takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Prince passes to full mount! Prince is landing with some decent strikes but Mandirigma is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Prince working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Mandirigma looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Prince! Submission of the night perhaps?
