Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Henry Lane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Salomo Koenig (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Henry Lane had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Henry Lane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Salomo Koenig!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Tarja Halkonen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown attempt by Lane or perhaps it was just good defense by Koenig, which made it look bad.
Lane takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Koenig closes the distance and clinches.

Lane breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Koenig clinches up against the cage.
Koenig lands with a right to the head.
Koenig is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Koenig blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Koenig throws a knee to the head but misses.

Koenig breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Lane could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Lane has a takedown stuffed.

Lane shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Lane blocks the strikes from Koenig.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lane prevents Koenig from improving his position.
Koenig is trying to stand up here but Lane is controlling him well.
Koenig on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Lane wants to control but Koenig is keeping him busy.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Koenig will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Koenig throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Koenig lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Lane circles away quickly and effectively.
Koenig throws a right and a left that both miss.
Lane avoids a punch combination nicely.
Lane shoots in looking for a takedown. Koenig tries to sprawl out of it but Lane keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Koenig manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Henry Lane. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Koenig misses with a head kick.
No joy there for Koenig, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Koenig tries a head kick but it misses.

Koenig rushes Lane and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Koenig tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Lane smiles and moves away.
Salomo Koenig seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Koenig looks winded!

Koenig misses with a wild combination.
Lane misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Koenig tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Koenig with a poor takedown
and Lane counters with a head kick. That will keep Koenig thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Koenig tries to sprawl but Lane drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Lane decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Koenig misses with a double jab

and Lane counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Lane stands up from half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Koenig drives through and clinches with Lane against the cage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Lane breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Lane fails to land the takedown.

Koenig has managed to clinch.
Lane misses with a short punch on the inside.
A shot in the inside from Koenig.

Lane breaks the clinch.
A right-left combo lands from Koenig.
Koenig fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Koenig lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Koenig pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Lane dives in and scores a takedown into Koenig's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Salomo Koenig dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Koenig tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Koenig has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Koenig scores with a nice body kick.
Koenig leaves Lane with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Lane closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Koenig to the mat! Koenig manages to get full guard.
Koenig is wriggling around but Lane manages to pass to half guard.
Koenig is trying to stand up here but Lane is controlling him well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Koenig is looking to get back to is feet but Lane passes into side control.
Lane scores with punches from side control.
Koenig wants to get back to his feet but Lane drags him back down.
Koenig is breathing heavily.
Koenig misses with a strike from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Koenig bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Salomo Koenig seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Koenig throws a right and a left that both miss.
Koenig throws a nice looking combination but Lane bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Lane throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Koenig's waist but Koenig gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lane off to one side.

Lane stuffs the takedown.
Koenig walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Koenig tries to sprawl but Lane drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Koenig is kicking away at Lane from the bottom - trying to push off and stand up. Lane grabs hold of a leg and drops back for a heel hook! The two fighters roll across the mat, with Koenig trying to push Lane off... Koenig taps! He's tapped! This one is all over! A throwback to the old Pancrase there with an infrequently seen submission hold! Nice work.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Heel Hook). Henry Lane!
