PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Elijah Hart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Quint (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hart comes to the cage accompanied by Amish Paradise. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Sam Quint enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Elijah Hart!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sam Quint!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Andrew Berry and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Quint connects with a body shot that sends Hart's belly button to the back.
Quint bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Quint gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Hart stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Quint swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Hart is in close to Quint's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Hart got a little sloppy there for a moment and Quint has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hart has managed to get both his arms back between Quint's legs - danger averted.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hart trying to control but Quint is working from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hart trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Hart passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Hart tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hart has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Quint is not content to let Hart control the position.
Hart is trying to ground and pound but Quint uses the momentary lack of control by Hart to regain half guard.
Still in half guard, Hart seems content to control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Quint is looking for a sweep. Hart is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Hart trying to pass the guard but Quint defending well.

Hart seems to be working for a kimura but Quint defends the submission attempt.
Hart not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hart is looking to pass Quint's guard but actually Quint recovers to full guard.
Hart tries to free his leg and advance position but Quint is retaining full guard.
Hart cracks Quint with a solid left hand.
Hart definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Hart pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Quint is keeping the position for now.
Hart wants to control from the top but Quint keeps moving.
Quint pulls Hart in close to prevent any damage.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Quint misses with an uppercut.
Quint lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Crunch! Hart slams his shin into Quint's torso.
Hart connects with a single shot there.
Quint misses with a left hand
and Hart makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Quint works the jab nicely.
Quint throws a hook but Hart avoids it easily.
Quint takes one on the chin but keeps coming.


It looks like Sam Quint has been cut.
Sam Quint seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Quint attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Quint throws a series of strikes that have Hart backpedaling.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The fighters circling - Hart throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Quint looks to score with a jab to the body but Hart is just out of range.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hart swats away the attempt to clinch by Quint.
Quint attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Quint throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Elijah Hart will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Sam Quint's cut.
That's time! Hart's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Quint throws a leg kick that misses.
A cross from Hart lands.
Quint throws a body kick that misses.
Hart throws a front kick that sends Quint stumbling back into the cage.
Hart throws a leg kick but Quint checks it.
Hart fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Quint has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

enabling Hart to counter with a crisp jab.
A low kick from Quint misses
and Hart counters with a two punch combo.


Quint is rocked!

Hart sends Quint crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Hart is motioning to the referee to let Quint up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Quint is still on wobbly legs! Can Hart finish him?
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hart lunges in with a left hook that violently twists Quint head around and knocks him out cold! Hart hops onto the cage and yells out at the top of his lungs - Yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaah! They're showing the replay on the big screens now; that was nasty! I hope one of the photographers got a good shot of it.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Elijah Hart!
Elijah Hart retains his featherweight title!
A relieved looking Elijah Hart thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
