Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dj Harrington (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Hutcher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sam Hutcher has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Dj Harrington's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sam Hutcher!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Thiago Cunha and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Harrington shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Harrington showed some decent athleticism there.

Harrington wants to work for an arm triangle but Hutcher is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Hutcher moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hutcher can do anything to dispel that myth.

Harrington drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Harrington jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Harrington is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Hutcher is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Hutcher has escaped and now he's on top!

Hutcher postures up in Harrington's guard and throws a big left but Harrington blocks it.

Hutcher makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Harrington bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hutcher's guard.


Harrington drops back looking for a leg! Hutcher is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Hutcher manages to kick Harrington off! Harrington jumps back into Hutcher's guard.

Harrington ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hutcher moves away.
Hutcher is looking for the big counter here.
Horrible takedown attempt by Hutcher or perhaps it was just good defense by Harrington, which made it look bad.
Harrington drops down looking for a counter takedown but Hutcher sprawls and moves away.
Hutcher tries to score a power double leg takedown but Harrington sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hutcher somewhat.

Hutcher got a little sloppy there for a moment and Harrington has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hutcher has managed to get both his arms back between Harrington's legs - danger averted.

Harrington has his foot on Hutcher's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hutcher works his way back into a safe position though.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hutcher has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Harrington has passed into side control.

Harrington tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Harrington has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

We've been told by Harrington's head coaches at Soco na mãe - Stand Up Striking that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Hutcher stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hutcher wants it to stay on the feet.

Harrington is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hutcher is aware though and is defending well.

I think Hutcher has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
