Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Homer Thompson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chris Bertram!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Ian Loll and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thompson ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Thompson swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Bertram.
Bertram's coach down at Werewolf's cave was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Bertram's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Thompson wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Thompson lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Thompson connects with a body shot that sends Bertram's belly button to the back.
Bertram fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Thompson sprawls well initially but Bertram persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Bertram seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Bertram stops Thompson from getting back to his feet.
Thompson definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Bertram is working for a submission of some sort.
Bertram is pressing down on Thompson's thigh, looking to free his foot. Thompson is holding on for now.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Bertram looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Thompson tries to kick Bertram off but Bertram keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Thompson is refusing to be controlled, as Bertram sits in half guard.
Thompson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Thompson tries to get out of the position.
Thompson is looking to control Bertram's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Thompson avoid being mounted?
Bertram trying to control the pace.
Bertram is pressing down on Thompson's thigh, looking to free his foot. Thompson is holding on for now.
Thompson is trying to stand back up but Bertram is controlling him
That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Thompson wants to control the action here but instead Bertram manages to pass to full mount!
Bertram takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Thompson is working to get back to half guard.
Bertram lands a couple of good shots and Thompson has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Thompson is covering up but some of the strikes from Bertram are getting through and doing damage.
Thompson won't enjoy being in this position. Bertram looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Thompson is tapping - it's over boys! Bertram picks up the submission victory!
