Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Trent Cotchin!
The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, Ron Honeybunn and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cotchin closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Witson is trying to control Cotchin's posture but Cotchin avoids it.
An elbow from Cotchin crashes against the mat.
Witson takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Cotchin is working Witson over with some ground and pound from side control.

We've been hearing good reports from Witson's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cotchin has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Witson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Cotchin throws the kick towards the body but Witson avoids it.

Cotchin walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Cotchin turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Cotchin connects with a leg kick. Witson looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Witson uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Cotchin.
Some bone on bone action there as Cotchin checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
