Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Serano Lukowski! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jon Melcher! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Steve Smith and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Melcher drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Melcher throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Melcher decides to take the fight back to the feet. Lukowski misses with a two punch combination.
Melcher is looking for the big counter here. Lukowski throws a right hand that Melcher ducks under and follows up with a left that Melcher also avoids with ease. Melcher has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Lukowski throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Melcher. Melcher showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Lukowski.
Melcher is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Lukowski's half guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Melcher is nestled in close to Lukowski, controlling him well. It looks like Jon Melcher has been cut. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Lukowski is trying to get an arm triangle but Melcher is defending well. Melcher is still in real trouble! Can Lukowski finish him? Melcher bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! Melcher closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Lukowski's guard. Melcher seems to have recovered his senses.

Lukowski is working an open guard so Melcher takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Melcher shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Lukowski looks to land a combination but Melcher avoids it well. Lukowski will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Lukowski with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Lukowski might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Melcher scoring with strikes to the body and head. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Melcher escapes and gets back to his feet. Lukowski connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Melcher momentarily.

Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. The crowd are loving this. That's better than Melcher was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Lukowski is trying to control Melcher's posture but Melcher avoids it.

Melcher decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Melcher gets to his feet - back to striking we go! Melcher is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Lukowski's half guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Melcher is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Melcher loses concentration momentarily and Lukowski pounces with a three punch combo! Right, left, right! Melcher crashes face first to the mat, out cold! Lukowski finishes this one with a fantastically precise combo! Great stuff.
