Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Vic Vantrell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chuck Silva!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Yves DeLean and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silva gets tackled into the cage by Vantrell. Vantrell maintains the clinch.
Silva drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Vantrell gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Silva is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Vantrell can't fight it off and eventually Silva manages to take the fight to the floor. Vantrell looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Vantrell keeping moving, preventing Silva from controlling successfully.
My spies in Montreal Elite Gym inform me that Silva has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Silva forces his way into half guard.

Vantrell is defending against the submission attempts here by Silva.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Silva is working for a kimura but Vantrell is defending it quite comfortably.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Silva is keen to just control but Vantrell is a slippery customer.
Silva is thwarting Vantrell's attempts to control the position.

Vantrell looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Silva trying to pass the guard but Vantrell defending well.
Vantrell tries to roll over but Silva keeps him under control.
Vantrell is refusing to be controlled, as Silva sits in half guard.

Silva is trying to work for a kimura but Vantrell is defending well.

Silva is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Vantrell has managed to free his arm - good work.

Silva looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Silva is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Vantrell is looking to escape.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Silva tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Vantrell defends well and Silva ends up having to push Vantrell into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Silva has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Vantrell is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Vic Vantrell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chuck Silva.
Silva is trying to pull guard but Vantrell has him pressed against the cage.

Vantrell turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Vantrell moves into full mount!
Silva can't escape the position.
Silva in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Vantrell scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Silva?
Silva tries to hold on but Vantrell postures up.
Vantrell with a couple of short strikes.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Vantrell landing strikes from the mount and Silva is in trouble!


Silva is rocked!


It looks like Chuck Silva has been cut.
Vantrell postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Silva bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Vantrell and the fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Vic Vantrell!
A victorious Vic Vantrell thanked his army of followers in his post fight interview, telling people to make sure they follow him on Twitter.
The defeated Chuck Silva had this to say: 'it was bad luck'.
