PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Julio El Toro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juan Tamad (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tamad has chosen The Joker as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Julio El Toro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 16 - 1, fighting out of London, Juan Tamad!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Donald Grub and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
El Toro checks a leg kick.
Tamad misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from El Toro.
El Toro attempts a counter takedown but Tamad avoids it well and moves away.
El Toro leaves Tamad with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
El Toro ducks under a wild hook from Tamad.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Tamad, right into the meat.
El Toro swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
That kick from Tamad tenderised El Toro's leg. El Toro is trying to keep his angry face on.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
El Toro throws a strike but Tamad rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

El Toro wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

El Toro is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Tamad slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Tamad looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

El Toro working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Tamad doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Tamad manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

El Toro is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Tamad off and has taken his back!
El Toro cracks Tamad with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Tamad from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.

El Toro seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Tamad shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
El Toro throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Tamad's waist but Tamad gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing El Toro off to one side.

It looks like Julio El Toro has been cut.

El Toro throws a hook to the side of Tamad's head but Tamad sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

El Toro thuds his right hand into Tamad's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Tamad lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but El Toro circles away quickly and effectively.

Tamad walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. El Toro checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

El Toro has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Tamad has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
