PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kekoa Konani (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rebel Lynch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Konani comes to the cage accompanied by Hawaii '78. Rebel Lynch told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kekoa Konani!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Rebel Lynch!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Roger Salmon and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Konani avoids the head kick by Lynch.

Lynch gets tackled into the cage by Konani. Konani maintains the clinch.
Konani blocks a body shot from Lynch.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Konani as Lynch tries to tie him up.

Konani pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Lynch tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Konani manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Konani moves out of range of the leg kick from Lynch.
Lynch throws a shot to the body.

Konani shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Konani content to control rather than advance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lynch really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Konani. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Konani is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Konani lands a big elbow.
Konani landing strikes from the mount and Lynch is in trouble!
Konani controlling the position easily from mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lynch has given up his back. Will we see Konani going for some submissions?
Konani has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Lynch's body.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Konani has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Lynch.
Lynch is trying to get back to his feet but Konani has full control of the position and if anything, Lynch has just worked his way into a worse spot.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Konani slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Lynch wants to get back to his feet. He's half way up but Konani drags him back down with a jolt, managing to get his forearm deep under Lynch 's chin! Lynch is in real trouble! His face is turning bright red and he's forced to tap! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Kekoa Konani!
Kekoa Konani seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
