Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jong Un Kim! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Raoul Duke! The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Duke is looking to clinch. Raoul Duke seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Duke is looking to clinch but Kim is avoiding it.
Duke has taken the fight to the clinch.
Kim pushes Duke back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. Duke manages to break the clinch.
Duke is looking to clinch. Duke closes the distance looking to clinch and Kim connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Duke wants to clinch. Duke gets in close and instigates a clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kim working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. I was talking to Kim's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Kim throws a head punch that misses. Duke wants to get back to striking at distance but Kim won't allow it.
Kim lands a shot to the body. Kim can't find room to land a body shot as Duke controls the action.

That's one minute gone in the round. Duke tries to circle away but Kim has him pinned against the cage. Duke wants to break free but Kim has control.

Kim misses with a punch to the body.
A short right from Kim on the inside. A shot in the inside from Kim. Kim keeps control of Duke as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Duke's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Kim looks to land a combination but Duke avoids it well. Kim throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Kim thuds his shin into the meat of Duke's side. Duke moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Kim lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Kim bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Duke's head. An inside leg kick lands from Kim. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Duke rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Kim counters with a thumping low kick. The fight stays on the outside here - Duke looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Duke clinches up against the cage. Kim scores with a shoulder strike. Duke wants to break the clinch but can't.
Kim trying to control the position but instead, Duke has worked for underhooks and has pushed Kim into the cage. Duke breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Duke's coach down at Den of Tears (22 coaches, $425 fee) was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Duke's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. The fight stays on the outside here - Duke looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Duke darts in trying to clinch and Kim scores with a counter punch that sends Duke to the canvas! Kim smells blood - he's punishing Duke with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Duke has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jong Un Kim! Jong Un Kim is the new bantamweight champion! Jong Un Kim decided to call for a title shot in his post fight interview, which was very strange given the fact this fight was for a title and he's already the champion. I guess that's what getting punched in the head does for you.
