Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Iain Reilly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matthias Staam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Reilly's entrance music is Dubliners - Fields of Athenry. A fine choice. Staam has chosen Muay Thai Sarama - Round 5 as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Iain Reilly! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Matthias Staam! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Reilly takes a kick to the side of the head.
It looks like Iain Reilly has been cut. Reilly throws a big shot that misses. Staam doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Reilly manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Staam on his heels. He'll look to pass Staam's guard now, I'm sure. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Reilly accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Reilly postures up and lands a big shot to Staam's brow. Reilly lands a couple of decent looking shots. Reilly is in close to Staam's body, working some short punches and elbows. Staam is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Staam looking to hit a scissor sweep but Reilly is one step ahead there. Reilly tries to free his leg and advance position but Staam is retaining full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Staam utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Reilly throwing strikes but missing. Staam not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Reilly with a nice head shot there. Staam wants to get back to his feet but Reilly is in a dominant position and won't allow it. We've been hearing that Reilly has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Reilly lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Reilly makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Staam keeping moving, preventing Reilly from controlling successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Staam trying to control the position here. Staam looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Reilly wants to control from the top but Staam keeps moving.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Staam throws a half hearted mid kick. Reilly swats away the attempt to clinch by Staam. Reilly attempts a counter takedown but Staam avoids it well and moves away. Staam connects with a looping right hand.
Reilly misses with a jab, cross combination.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Reilly will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Staam gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Staam tries to land a knee to the head but Reilly blocks with his arms.
Staam is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Reilly is keeping busy. Staam connects with a knee to the head.

Reilly is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Staam is defending well. Staam tries to land a knee to the head but Reilly blocks with his arms.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Reilly. Staam connects with a knee to the head.
Staam is trying to maintain a safe position but Reilly gets an underhook and turns Staam into the cage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Reilly working hard to break the clinch. Reilly is trying to break the clinch but Staam has him pressed against the cage. A knee to the head by Staam.
Reilly is rocked! Staam misses with a knee to the head. Oh Reilly is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Staam looking to throw knees to the head but Reilly is blocking nicely.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Staam tries a knee to the head but Reilly blocks it.

Staam lands a big knee to the head and Reilly goes down! Staam pounces and finishes the fight with strikes! He jumps to his feet and celebrates with the crowd!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Matthias Staam! Matthias Staam bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
