PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Michal Tarnowski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Athan Stamatis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tarnowski comes to the cage accompanied by Hemp Gru - Sami swoi . Stamatis has chosen Lose Yourself as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Michal Tarnowski has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Michal Tarnowski seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 52 - 25 - 0, fighting out of New York, Athan Stamatis!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, David Schapiro and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stamatis dips to his left and cracks Tarnowski with an uppercut!
Stamatis takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Stamatis avoids a punch combination nicely.

Tarnowski decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Tarnowski not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Tarnowski tries to pass the half guard into mount. Stamatis knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Stamatis is looking to improve his position.
Tarnowski thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Stamatis's head.

Tarnowski wants to work for an arm triangle but Stamatis is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Stamatis not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Tarnowski is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Stamatis is surviving well by controlling Tarnowski's body position as best he can.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Stamatis suckers Tarnowski into throwing a sloppy strike and uses the momentum to reverse the position beautifully! Stamatis is now in Tarnowski's guard!
Stamatis wants to control from the top but Tarnowski keeps moving.

Stamatis is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Tarnowski uses his free foot to push down on Stamatis's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Stamatis.

Tarnowski has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Tarnowski cracks Stamatis with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Stamatis rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Tarnowski moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Stamatis throws a solid leg kick but Tarnowski takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Stamatis.
