Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jose Good (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Criller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Jay Criller enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jose Good!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jay Criller!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Joseph Jones and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Criller throws a leg kick but Good sees it coming and checks it nicely.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Good is defended easily by Criller.
Good closes the distance looking to clinch

and Criller counters with a nice double leg into side control. Good won't be happy with that.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Good trying to remain calm as Criller controls from the top position.
Good tries to escape but Criller is in control.
Criller controls the position from side control.

Criller thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Good wants to control but Criller postures up.

Criller tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Good struggling a bit here.
Criller looking to control but instead Good has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
Criller controlling the action here.
Criller wants to pass the guard but Good is defending well.
Good is looking for a sweep. Criller is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Good trying to hold on to Criller's head to control him but Criller postures up.
Good is pressing down on Criller's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Criller controlling from the top position.
Criller with a flurry of punches that miss.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Criller throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Good tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Criller is in Good's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Good looking for a guillotine here but Criller defends easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Good can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Criller controls the pace.

Good keeping moving, preventing Criller from controlling successfully.
Criller slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Criller keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Good's head.
Criller is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Good wants to sweep here but Criller controlling him for the moment.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Good keeping moving, preventing Criller from controlling successfully.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Criller looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Criller controlling from the top position.
Criller's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Good fails with the takedown.

Criller moves into range and clinches up with Good.
Criller has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Criller gets underhooks to prevent Good's takedown attempt.

Good struggles to land a body shot inside as Criller controls his hands.

Criller has hold of one of Good's legs. Good is fighting the takedown attempt but Criller gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Criller wants to control from the top but Good keeps moving.

Good is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Criller manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Good manages to get himself to full guard.

Criller content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Good keeping moving, preventing Criller from controlling successfully.
Good is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Criller wants to pass the guard but Good is keeping the position.
Criller showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Criller trying to control the position from guard on top but Good is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Criller not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Criller is continuing to stall.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Good goes for a double leg but Criller avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Criller continues to drive forward.
Good has had enough of the clinch but Criller keeps him there for the moment.

Criller gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Good regains guard.

Good trying to keep a closed guard but Criller is proving a slippery customer.
Criller is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Criller looking to pass the guard.

Good escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Criller gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Good tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Criller wants to pass the guard but Good is keeping the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jay Criller showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Good tries to clinch

and Criller counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Criller.

Criller gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Good being controlled here, momentarily.
Criller looking to pass the guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Good doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Criller decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Good's guard.
Criller is looking to work some ground and pound but Good has wrist control.
Good is looking to stand up but Criller isn't so interested in that idea.
Good has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Jay Criller is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Criller sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Good working for a triangle but Criller defends it easily.
Criller won't allow Good to sweep him here.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Criller ducks under a wild hook from Good.

Criller instigates a clinch.

Criller gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Good flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Criller content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Criller tries to pass to full mount but Good defends it.
Criller is controlling the pace.

Good wants to control but Criller is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Good won't allow Criller to pass to mount.
Still in half guard, Criller seems content to control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Criller shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Criller seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Jay Criller comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Criller has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
