Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between William Dos Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cody Lundin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dos Santos kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Chemical Brothers - Leave Home. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
26 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, William Dos Santos! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 3 - 1, fighting out of New York, Cody Lundin! The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, John Roberts and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dos Santos looks to score with a jab to the body but Lundin is just out of range. Lundin avoids a punch combination nicely.
Lundin misses with a wild body shot. Dos Santos drops down looking for a counter takedown but Lundin sprawls and moves away. Dos Santos moves into range and clinches up with Lundin. Dos Santos misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Dos Santos tries to work over Lundin's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Lundin stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
A nice left hand lands by Dos Santos.
Lundin blocks a body shot from Dos Santos. Dos Santos blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Lundin lands a shoulder strike. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lundin misses with some punches.

We've been hearing reports that Dos Santos has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Dos Santos wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Lundin has him pressed against the cage. Lundin swings away with an uppercut that misses.

A frustrated look appears on Dos Santos's face as he tries to break the clinch. Lundin softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. That's two minutes gone in the round. Lundin is working Dos Santos over against the cage. Dos Santos lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. Dos Santos digs a right hand into Lundin's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Lundin's gas tank. Lundin putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Dos Santos in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Dos Santos escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Despite the aggression on Lundin's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. Lundin lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. A jab from Lundin misses. Lundin decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Dos Santos is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Lundin scores with a couple of nice shots. Lundin scoring with strikes to the body and head. Lundin is keen to just control but Dos Santos is a slippery customer. Lundin missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lundin misses with a head shot. Dos Santos uses the momentum to regain guard. Lundin missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Lundin trying to control the position from guard on top but Dos Santos is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Lundin looking to sit in guard and control but Dos Santos gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Lundin controls Dos Santos momentarily but Dos Santos frees himself. Lundin has his foot on Dos Santos's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Dos Santos works his way back into a safe position though. Dos Santos content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Dos Santos trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Dos Santos with a flurry of punches that miss. Lundin has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Dos Santos pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Lundin is keeping the position for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Cody Lundin dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Dos Santos thuds his right hand into Lundin's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Lundin throws a leg kick but Dos Santos sees it coming and checks it nicely. Dos Santos looking to land some kicks to the body here.

Lundin thumps Dos Santos with a low kick. Dos Santos connects with a body shot. Lundin tried to score with a low kick but Dos Santos checks it. Dos Santos appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Dos Santos closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Dos Santos decides to stand back up. Dos Santos steps back and let's Lundin get back to his feet. Dos Santos looks to land a combination but Lundin avoids it well. Lundin connects with a leg kick. Dos Santos looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Dos Santos closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Lundin quickly recovers to half guard. Dos Santos uses his free foot to push down on Lundin's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Lundin.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lundin is squirming around, avoiding Dos Santos's attempts to control the action. Dos Santos working Lundin over with strikes here. Dos Santos misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Dos Santos looking to control but Lundin is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Lundin tries to improve his position but Dos Santos has taken his back! Dos Santos has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Lundin tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Dos Santos pushes Lundin away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
