Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Prince (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Maximus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jimmy Prince!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dan Maximus!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Yves DeLean and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maximus lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Prince circles away quickly and effectively.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Prince.
Prince shoots for a double leg takedown but Maximus sprawls well. He's pushed Prince's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Prince circles away from the clinch attempt.

Prince fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Maximus to the ground. Prince is now in Maximus's guard.
Prince wants to stand but Maximus has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Prince is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Maximus is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Prince tries to stand but Maximus is controlling from the bottom.

Prince has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Maximus has a closed guard, preventing Prince from standing up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Maximus moves into the clinch.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Horrible takedown attempt by Prince or perhaps it was just good defense by Maximus, which made it look bad.

Maximus clinches up with Prince and pushes him back against the cage.
Maximus lands a damaging elbow.


It looks like Jimmy Prince has been cut.
Knees to the body from Maximus.
Prince tries for a takedown. No joy.
Maximus prevents the takedown attempt.

Maximus pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Prince drives through and clinches with Maximus against the cage.

Maximus displaying some good clinch control by pressing Prince up against the cage.
Maximus lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Prince.
Maximus lands a nice elbow.

Maximus pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Maximus throws out a loose jab but Prince uses good head movement to avoid it.

Maximus bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Maximus decides to stand back up. Maximus steps back and let's Prince get back to his feet.

Maximus clinches with his opponent.
Prince is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Prince is looking to take this one to the mat.
Knees in the clinch landing for Maximus.
Maximus avoiding damage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Prince tries to score a body lock takedown but Maximus shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Maximus obliges.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Maximus feints and as Prince raises his hands in defense, Maximus changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Maximus has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Prince is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Maximus defends well.
Prince preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Prince is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Maximus loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Prince not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Prince is really struggling to control Maximus but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Maximus engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Prince looking for a guillotine here but Maximus defends easily.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Prince closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Maximus quickly recovers to half guard.

Prince stalling away here and it's allowed Maximus to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Prince drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Maximus manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Prince has Maximus in his guard.

Maximus slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Prince working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Maximus doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Maximus manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Maximus in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Maximus forces his way into half guard.
Maximus takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Prince is defending against the submission attempts here by Maximus.
Maximus performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Maximus wants to take a breather but Prince is having none of it.

Prince looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Maximus stands up out of the half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Maximus clinches with his opponent.
Maximus stalling the fight.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dan Maximus showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Prince has Maximus pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Maximus manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Maximus is taking a breather. Prince says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Maximus has closed the distance and engaged Prince in a clinch.
Maximus lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.

Maximus has Prince pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Maximus pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Prince tumbling to the mat - Maximus dives into Prince's guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Maximus accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Dan Maximus has got the better of the ground game so far.
Prince is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Maximus throwing strikes but missing.
Maximus engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Maximus seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Maximus tries a head kick but it misses.
Maximus moves in looking to clinch but Prince pushes him off.

Prince moves into the clinch.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Prince has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Maximus after a bit of a struggle.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jimmy Prince. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Maximus pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Jimmy Prince has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Dan Maximus is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Prince fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Maximus avoids it really well and circles away.

Dan Maximus comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Maximus has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In his post fight interview, Dan Maximus started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
