Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mike Bansa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Owen! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, George Francis and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Owen swats away the attempt to clinch by Bansa. Owen tries to close the distance and clinch but Bansa swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Owen clinches up against the cage. Owen unloads a knee to the mid-section. Owen gets through Bansa's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Bansa tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Owen avoids it. Bansa escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Owen takes the fight into the clinch. Owen lands on the inside with an uppercut. Bansa managing to block the knees to the body from Owen.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Owen misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Bansa.
Bansa wants to break the clinch but can't.
Owen tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Bansa's elbow. Owen trying to land knees to the body.
Owen lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Bansa. Bansa working Owen over with knees to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Owen lands a shoulder strike. Bansa blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Owen has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Bansa seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Owen can turn it around. Bansa with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Bansa breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Bansa tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Owen paws at him with a jab and circles away. Owen clinches. Owen cracks Bansa with a nice body shot. Owen lands a glancing elbow in the clinch. Owen is leaning against Bansa and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. Owen lands a hook to the side of the head. Owen utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body. Bansa is breathing heavily. Owen is working Bansa over against the cage. Owen lands with a right to the head. Knees in the clinch landing for Owen.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Owen misses with a shot to the kidneys.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A quick uppercut on the inside from Owen. Owen putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Bansa in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body. Owen digs a right hand underneath Bansa's ribcage. Bansa let out a lung full of air as it connected. Owen throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Owen. Owen lands a nice elbow from the clinch. Owen lands a damaging elbow. Owen tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Bansa avoids it. Bansa avoids the elbow strike from Owen, against the cage.
Owen lands a right hand.
Bansa is rocked! Owen scores a nice knee to the body.
Oh Bansa is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Owen landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Owen unloads a knee to the mid-section. Bansa tries to land knees in the clinch but Owen avoids the damage to the body. Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Owen obliges. A nice glancing elbow lands by Owen. Bansa takes an elbow to the forehead. Owen controlling the action here for a moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Owen lands a glancing elbow in the clinch. Owen has Bansa pressed up against the cage in a tight Thai clinch. Bansa is arching his back, trying to avoid the knees but a big one sneaks through from Owen - that's hurt Bansa badly! Oh, another knee lands and Bansa is covering up! The referee steps in to save him - possibly a bit early but Bansa doesn't seem to be complaining.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:15 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knees). James Owen! Our winner, James Owen, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
