The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Cullen. No joy for Alves on that attempt.
Cullen throws a head kick that half lands.

It looks like Rickson Alves has been cut.
Cullen shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Alves pinned against the cage. Alves gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

and Alves counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Alves.
Alves tries to pull guard but Cullen holds him up against the cage and eventually Alves drops back down to his feet.
Alves tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Cullen smiles and moves away.
Dan Cullen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rickson Alves.
Alves fails with a takedown attempt.
Cullen misses with a head kick.

Cullen fails to land with a series of punches.
Cullen looks to land a body kick but Alves moved away.

and Alves counters with a nice double leg into side control. Cullen won't be happy with that.

Alves thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Alves is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Cullen is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Alves is looking to take a break and control but Cullen is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Alves might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Cullen kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Alves in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Cullen tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Alves!
