Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tom Segura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ikki De Fenix (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). De Fenix is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Killing Inside. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Tom Segura! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ikki De Fenix! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Robert Douchet and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! De Fenix lands with a right hand. Segura fails in his attempt to clinch. De Fenix ducks under a wild hook from Segura. De Fenix misses with a two punch combination.

and De Fenix counters with a lovely straight right hand! De Fenix misses with a straight left. Segura swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. De Fenix slips under a jab. Segura looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Segura seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Segura tries to clinch but De Fenix moves out of range. It seemed like De Fenix was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Segura lands a slapping body shot.

and Segura counters with a nice double leg into side control. De Fenix won't be happy with that. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. De Fenix parries the strikes from Segura easily there. Segura is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable De Fenix to escape.

De Fenix felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Segura working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Segura wants to lay and pray for a moment but De Fenix keeps working. Segura is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but De Fenix is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. De Fenix dodges the ground and pound from Segura. Segura is trying to get an arm triangle but De Fenix is defending well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Segura tries for a kimura but De Fenix is defending well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Segura with the ground and pound but De Fenix regains half guard under the barage of strikes. Segura seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but De Fenix does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Segura throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. De Fenix trying to control here.

That's three minutes gone in the round. De Fenix avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Segura. Segura trying to control the action but De Fenix is working from the bottom. Segura working the ground and pound. Segura wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by De Fenix, who protects the arm well. Segura trying to control the action but De Fenix is working from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Segura is trying to get an arm triangle but De Fenix is defending well. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if De Fenix can do anything to dispel that myth. Segura wants to control but De Fenix is keeping him busy. Segura thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. De Fenix is looking to regain half guard here but Segura keeps moving and retains side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tom Segura dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Segura misses with a wild body shot. De Fenix stuns Segura with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Segura is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that De Fenix can do to turn this around? Segura takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Nice defenses there by Segura. Segura shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as De Fenix sprawls well. De Fenix wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Segura gets slowly back to his feet. De Fenix throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Segura counters with a nice double leg into guard. Segura trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Segura is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Segura missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Segura trying to control but De Fenix is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Segura sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed De Fenix's guard. Segura has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. De Fenix trying to control from the bottom.
Segura passes the guard and advances to mount! The referee warns De Fenix that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Segura with a couple of short strikes. De Fenix in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Segura throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Segura lands a nice shot to the head. De Fenix tries to reverse the position but Segura maintains control. Segura lands with some vicious ground and pound - can De Fenix hang on? We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Poor strikes thrown by Segura there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

That's three minutes gone in the round. Segura tries to control but De Fenix wriggling away. Segura sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Segura trying to control but he's not successful this time. Segura misses with a head shot. Segura goes for an armbar but he's not got it… De Fenix turns into him and now he's in Segura's guard.
Segura has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Segura is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. De Fenix is aware though and is defending well. De Fenix wants to get up but he can't break Segura's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Segura manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. De Fenix manages to get himself to full guard.
Segura wants to pass the guard but De Fenix is keeping the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tom Segura dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Segura shoots in and gets a takedown into De Fenix's guard. Segura loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Segura trying to control but De Fenix is working from the bottom. Segura stays in close to De Fenix's body and controls the position. De Fenix preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Segura working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Tom Segura overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Segura looking to sit in guard and control but De Fenix gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. De Fenix won't allow Segura to sweep him here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Segura is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Segura is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, De Fenix has managed to free his arm - good work. Segura is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Segura thows a huge punch but De Fenix dodges it nicely.
Ikki De Fenix has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. De Fenix is trying to escape back to his feet but Segura uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Segura in side control, throwing shots but De Fenix defends. Segura trying to control the position but De Fenix is working away. Segura in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Segura lands an elbow. Segura is looking to take a break and control but De Fenix is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Segura tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Segura has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Segura throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and De Fenix works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure. Segura working over De Fenix with some ground and pound. De Fenix looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. De Fenix really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Segura. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Well, if Segura is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Segura is working for a kimura but De Fenix is defending it quite comfortably.
Segura looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Tom Segura is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! De Fenix avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Segura. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Segura in particular looking to stall.
And that's the end of the fight! Tom Segura showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Segura, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
