0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Spindle Johnson! The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnson misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Johnson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
HASTINGS fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Johnson manages to avoid it. HASTINGS clinches with his opponent.
HASTINGS fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Johnson is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Johnson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
HASTINGS misses with the combination.
Johnson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
HASTINGS tries to clinch up but Johnson circles away and keeps his distance. Excellent takedown into side control there by HASTINGS. Johnson is not content to let HASTINGS control the position. HASTINGS is chipping away with strikes.
HASTINGS has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's one minute gone in the round. HASTINGS tries to advance to mount but Johnson denies him. HASTINGS landing strikes. Johnson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with HASTINGS. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. HASTINGS working the ground and pound. Johnson taking punishment in the form of punches.
HASTINGS is chipping away with strikes.
Johnson is looking to reverse the position. HASTINGS is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Johnson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. HASTINGS cracks Johnson with an elbow. That is naaassty. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. HASTINGS is putting a hurting on Johnson here, landing some big shots from side control. HASTINGS lands an elbow.
That's two minutes gone in the round. HASTINGS working away. HASTINGS connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Johnson some visible discomfort.
Johnson tries to improve position but can't. Johnson is trying to control HASTINGS's posture but HASTINGS avoids it. Johnson takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Johnson taking punishment in the form of punches.
Johnson takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
HASTINGS advances to full mount. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Johnson is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Johnson looks gassed!
That's three minutes gone in the round. HASTINGS landing shots from mount. HASTINGS working away from the top, dropping strikes. HASTINGS dominating with strikes here.
Johnson is rocked! Johnson is trying desperately to improve position. HASTINGS is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Johnson is forced to tap! Great finish!
