Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mervin Tanner! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kyo Shinata! The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Shirou Masuda and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tanner takes one to the side of the head.
Shinata avoids the head kick by Tanner.

Shinata throws a body shot but no joy. Shinata with a nice cross. Shinata scores with a jab. Tanner acknowledges it with a nod of the head. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Tanner shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Shinata counters with a two punch combo. Tanner has managed to clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shinata has Tanner pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Shinata pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Tanner tumbling to the mat - Shinata dives into Tanner's guard. Shinata throws a big right hand that misses. Tanner utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Shinata with a flurry of punches that miss. Shinata must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Shinata is working Tanner over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Shinata being controlled here momentarily. Tanner throwing short punches from the bottom. Shinata is sitting in close to Tanner's body. Tanner has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Shinata is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Shinata is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Tanner.
