Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Emery Carey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kennedy Leach (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Emery Carey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kennedy Leach!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Leach throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Leach scores with a takedown into Carey's guard.
Leach is looking to work some ground and pound but Carey has wrist control.
Leach postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Leach preventing the sweep.
Carey might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Leach is stalling in the full guard.
It looks like Leach might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carey trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

Leach stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Leach tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Carey manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Leach shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

Leach stands and throws Carey's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Leach sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Carey is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Carey bucks up and tries to throw Leach off but instead Leach has got his back!

Leach is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Carey has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Leach controlling well, preventing Carey from escaping the position.

Leach looking to break Carey's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Carey remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Leach will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
Leach misses with punches from the back.
Carey really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Carey has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Leach.
Leach doesn't have the hooks in and Carey manages to turn into his guard.

Leach has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Carey stands up and waves to Leach to follow him.

Leach bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Carey gets back to half guard.
Carey is trying to stand back up but Leach is controlling him

Leach won't allow Carey to get back to his feet.

Leach's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Carey wants to get back to his feet but Leach passes into half guard.
Carey is breathing heavily.
Leach is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Leach tries a head kick but it misses.

Leach closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Leach lands in his opponent's guard.
Carey tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Leach with a flurry of punches that miss.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Leach prevents Carey from getting back to his feet.
Leach stays in close to Carey's body and controls the position.
Leach's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Carey is working an open guard so Leach takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Carey throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Leach's waist but Leach gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Carey off to one side.
Leach has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Carey misses with a lunging right hand
and Leach counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Leach misses with a head kick.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Carey.
Carey tries to score a power double leg takedown but Leach sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Carey somewhat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Emery Carey. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Leach bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Leach is staying tight to Carey's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Leach advances to full mount.
Carey wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Leach.
Leach prevents Carey from getting the reversal.
Carey is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Leach misses with a head shot.
Leach tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Carey is squirming around, avoiding Leach's attempts to control the action.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Leach looking to ground and pound but Carey is blocking nicely.
Leach content just to control the position here.

Leach is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Carey is surviving well by controlling Leach's body position as best he can.
Kennedy Leach has got the better of the ground game so far.
Carey is looking to get to half guard.
Leach looking to finish with strikes here!
Carey is looking to improve his position but Leach isn't that keen on the idea.

Leach unloads with some shots from mount but Carey bucks and avoids them well.
Leach tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Carey looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Leach somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Kennedy Leach showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Leach closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Carey's guard.

Leach fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Carey, pushing him back against the cage.

Leach manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Carey manages to get himself to full guard.

Carey wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Leach manages to pass to side control.
Leach is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Leach escapes and gets back to his feet.
Carey shoots in for a takedown but Leach shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Carey gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Carey has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Leach off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Leach closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Carey quickly recovers to half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Leach stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Carey to get to his feet.
Carey shoots for a double leg takedown but Leach sprawls well. He's pushed Carey's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Carey closes the distance and clinches up with Leach, looking for a takedown. Carey pushes Leach against the cage but Leach circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Emery Carey. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Leach moves into the clinch.
Carey lands an elbow inside.
Carey looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Come on Leach - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Carey tries to break the clinch but Leach is controlling the position.

Leach has Carey pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Leach pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Carey tumbling to the mat - Leach dives into Carey's guard.

Leach gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Emery Carey is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Leach changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Carey looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Leach happy to just control the position for now.
Carey looks to move to half guard but instead Leach has passed into mount! Damn!

Kennedy Leach comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Leach has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
