PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Crazy Dog (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Test Ninja (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dog comes into the arena with Beat It blaring out of the sound system. Ninja comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Super Bon Bon - Soul Coughing kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 34 - 19 - 2, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Crazy Dog!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Test Ninja!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Paulo Santos and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ninja tries for a takedown but Dog circles away easily
and Dog counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Ninja fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Dog throws a nice looking combination but Ninja bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Ninja goes for a double leg but Dog avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the ropes as Dog continues to drive forward.
Crazy Dog has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Test Ninja.
Ninja looks for a takedown but Dog sprawls well.
Ninja is trying hard to land a takedown here. Dog sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Dog is nestled in close to Ninja, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Our spies down at at Turka Elite Gym inform us that Ninja has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
Ninja bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Dog's guard.

Ninja has gone for a leg lock! Dog slips out almost immediately though and dives into Ninja's guard.

Dog lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Ninja closes the distance and clinches up with Dog, looking for a takedown. Ninja pushes Dog against the ropes but Dog circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Dog lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Ninja down.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Crazy Dog dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


A telegraphed takedown attempt from Ninja is defended easily by Dog.
Dog moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Ninja is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Dog.
Ninja tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Dog swivels and escapes.
Dog drops down looking for a counter takedown but Ninja sprawls and moves away.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Ninja manages to get to full guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Ninja lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


Dog had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Ninja defends it easily.
Dog is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

and Dog counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Ninja dives in and grabs Dog's left leg, looking for a takedown. Dog pushes down on Ninja's head and hops out.
Ninja takes one to the chin there.
Dog is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Dog shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Ninja eats them both and turns towards Dog to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Crazy Dog is winning the standup battle so far.

Dog throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Ninja tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Dog is in Ninja's guard.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Dog is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Dog is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ninja can do to turn this around?

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Ninja holds on and takes a little breather.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Dog is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ninja is just riding it out for now. Dog eventually gives up the hold.

Dog is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Crazy Dog showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Dog has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
