Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Shaun Medina (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Karly Sarmieto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sarmieto has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sarmieto misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Medina gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Sarmieto counters with a nice low kick that buckles Medina's knee momentarily.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Medina is defended easily by Sarmieto.
Medina shoots in for a double leg but Sarmieto sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Sarmieto felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Medina throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Sarmieto was covering up waiting for the punch and Medina finishes the takedown easily into guard.
