Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Shaun Medina (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Karly Sarmieto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sarmieto has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shaun Medina! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Karly Sarmieto! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Chris Downing and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sarmieto misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Medina gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Sarmieto counters with a nice low kick that buckles Medina's knee momentarily. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Medina is defended easily by Sarmieto. Medina shoots in for a double leg but Sarmieto sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shaun Medina. That's going to take a lot out of him. Medina shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Sarmieto counters with a flying knee. Nice. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Medina shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Sarmieto defends it nicely. Medina shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Sarmieto napping and manages to drive through into side control! Sarmieto felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Medina moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Sarmieto looks winded! Sarmieto dodges the ground and pound from Medina. Sarmieto takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Medina sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Sarmieto is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Medina has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Medina content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. The strikes coming from Medina are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Medina creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. The ground and pound from Medina seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Medina is staying tight to Sarmieto's torso, preventing him from escaping. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sarmieto taking punishment in the form of punches.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Medina content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Medina gets the takedown into side control. Medina is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Sarmieto will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Medina throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Medina has knee on belly and moves into mount. Medina controlling the pace for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Shaun Medina dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Medina closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Medina slows the pace down. Medina is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sarmieto can do to turn this around? Sarmieto is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Medina has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Medina fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Medina shoots for a takedown but Sarmieto saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Medina fails with a takedown attempt. Sarmieto stuffs the takedown attempt from Medina. Medina gets slowly back to his feet. Medina manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Sarmieto on his heels. He'll look to pass Sarmieto's guard now, I'm sure.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Medina is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Medina in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Medina is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Medina missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Medina with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Medina controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Medina fails with a takedown attempt from distance. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Shaun Medina dominated that second round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!
Medina throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Sarmieto was covering up waiting for the punch and Medina finishes the takedown easily into guard. Sarmieto can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Medina controls the pace. Shaun Medina overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Medina throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Medina controls from within his opponent's guard. Sarmieto takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Medina seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression. Medina could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Shaun Medina. Sarmieto stuffs the takedown attempt from Medina. Medina gets slowly back to his feet. Sarmieto shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Medina defends it nicely. Medina bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Medina in side control lands a decent elbow. Medina in side control, just content to control the action for now. Karly Sarmieto has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

And that's the end of the fight! Shaun Medina showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Medina, winning every round. Will the judges agree?
