Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
20 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Andy Berdich! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Helio Perrera! The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Perrera pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Perrera throws a looping overhand right but Berdich ducks down to avoid it. Perrera misses the shot to the body. Berdich staying out of range there. Berdich takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Berdich looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Perrera changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Berdich looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Berdich tries to improve position but can't. Berdich is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Perrera lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Perrera looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Berdich is looking for a sweep. Perrera is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground! Berdich actively working from the bottom here. Perrera is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Perrera seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Berdich does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Perrera is working the ground and pound from guard. Berdich is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Perrera is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Helio Perrera dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Berdich fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Perrera manages to avoid it. Perrera lands with a thumping leg kick.

Perrera throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Berdich stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Perrera decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Berdich is staying active underneath Perrera, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Perrera is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
