PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ron Dogg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Travis Knight (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dogg's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Kickstart My Heart. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ron Dogg!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Travis Knight!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Knight misses the jab.
Dogg tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Knight throws a nice looking combination but Dogg bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Knight stuffs the takedown.
Knight looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Knight looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Knight throws a series of punches but Dogg avoids them all with ease.
Knight misses with a jab, cross combination.
The fighters circling - Knight throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Dogg shoots in and bounces Knight off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Dogg trying to control the position from guard on top but Knight is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Knight escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dogg gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Knight is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Dogg wants to control from the top but Knight keeps moving.

Dogg missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Knight escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dogg gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Dogg works over Knight with some ground and pound from guard.

Knight looking for a guillotine here but Dogg defends easily.

Dogg forces his way into half guard.
Knight is looking to control Dogg's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Knight avoid being mounted?
Dogg wants to control but Knight is keeping him busy.
Dogg scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Knight looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Dogg is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Knight sees it coming and defends easily.
Dogg winds up and cracks Knight with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Knight has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
Dogg prevents Knight from improving his position.

Dogg slips a nice elbow through Knight's hands, connecting with Knight's forehead.

Dogg seems to be working for a kimura but Knight defends the submission attempt.

Dogg wants to work for an arm triangle but Knight is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Knight works his way to full guard. Good work.

Dogg works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Dogg is working for a kimura but Knight is defending it quite comfortably.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Knight slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Knight is pulling down on Dogg's head. It's preventing any offense from Dogg, at least for the moment.
Dogg would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Dogg stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Knight swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Dogg wants to control from the top but Knight keeps moving.
Knight is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ron Dogg dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Knight swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Knight fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Dogg is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Knight.
A punch combination from Dogg misses.
Dogg tries for a takedown but Knight sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Knight displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Dogg.
A little jabbing left from Knight on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Knight lands a right hook to the body.
Horrible takedown attempt by Dogg or perhaps it was just good defense by Knight, which made it look bad.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ron Dogg. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Dogg has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Knight is trying to keep an underhook but Dogg manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Dogg not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Knight looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Dogg seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Knight is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Knight makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Knight.

Dogg avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Dogg content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Ron Dogg overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Dogg trying to control but Knight is working from the bottom.
Dogg stands up over Knight, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Knight has an active guard here but Dogg has managed to pass into half guard.
Dogg seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Knight does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Dogg landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Dogg is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Knight can do to turn this around?

Knight tries to roll over but Dogg keeps him under control.

Dogg has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Knight defend it? Dogg steps over the head and cranks it - Knight is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Dogg!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:14 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Ron Dogg!
A very excited looking Ron Dogg made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
