Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bret Schultz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Matthews (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Bret Schultz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Mike Matthews!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Steven Brown and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schultz throws a big shot that misses.

Matthews clinches with his opponent.

Matthews breaks from the clinch.

Schultz appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Matthews enables Schultz to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Matthews manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Schultz is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Matthews sees it coming and defends easily.

Schultz is looking to pass into half guard but Matthews pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Matthews is in guard.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Schultz wants to sweep here but Matthews controlling him for the moment.

Schultz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Schultz has Matthews pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Matthews manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Matthews is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Schultz is stalling here. Matthews is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Schultz seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Matthews has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
We've been hearing good reports from Schultz's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

It looks like Bret Schultz has been cut.

Schultz closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Schultz goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Matthews rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Schultz's guard! Nice work there by Matthews!
Matthews has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Schultz is proving hard to escape from.
Mike Matthews is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Matthews not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
