PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lazarus Envy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Burnsy Burns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Envy kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Converge - Dark Horse. Burns has chosen Point of No Return-Immortal Technique as his entrance music. Burnsy Burns has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Chris Downing and Cecil Peabody.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Envy wants to clinch up but Burns keeps it at a distance.
Burns misses with a two punch combination.
Burns misses the jab.
Envy ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Burns moves away.
Envy throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Burns should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Burns looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Envy!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Envy is trying desperately to improve position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Burns postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Envy is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Burns, into his guard.

Envy thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Burns is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Burns escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Envy gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Envy wants to stand but Burns is controlling his posture from full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Envy shoots and misses

so Burns counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Envy has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Burns can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Envy shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Burns fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Envy sprawls well initially but Burns persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Envy misses with a takedown attempt

and Burns counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Envy!

Burns is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Envy has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Envy!

Burns escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Envy gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Envy wanted to stand there but Burns had control of the position.
Burns looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Envy puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Envy wants to stand but Burns has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Burns has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Envy escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Envy!

Envy is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent.

Envy stands up from mount. Strange move.
Envy thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Burns if he has to take too many more of those.

Burns throws a shot from downtown. Envy moves away and avoids it.

Envy shoots for a takedown but Burns saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Burns is looking to work some ground and pound but Envy has wrist control.

Burns has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Burns isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Envy stacks Burns on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Envy!

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Envy throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Burns's waist but Burns gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Envy off to one side.
Envy throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Crunch! Envy slams his shin into Burns's torso.
Envy shoots in looking for a takedown. Burns tries to sprawl out of it but Envy keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Burns manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Envy goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Burns shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Envy as he avoids it easily.
Burns throws out a loose jab but Envy uses good head movement to avoid it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lazarus Envy dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Envy throws a head kick that Burns semi-blocks.
Envy steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Burns.
Envy tries a head kick but it misses.

Envy doesn't manage to clinch there - Burns circles away.

Envy throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Envy throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Burns shoots in but no luck this time.
Envy throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Envy shoots in and drives through. Burns sprawls well.
Horrible takedown by Envy or perhaps it was just good defense by Burns which made him look bad.
Envy misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Burns moves into range and clinches up with Envy.
Envy is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Burns is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Envy can't fight it off and eventually Burns manages to take the fight to the floor. Envy looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Burns throws and elbow that misses. Envy uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Burns's guard. Nice move by Envy!

Burns has his foot on Envy's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Envy works his way back into a safe position though.

Envy is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Burns looks calm but he's in trouble here. Envy gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Burns is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Envy lets go of the hold and Burns can pop his arm back in it's socket.
