Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Meguru Takayanagi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sim Salabim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Takayanagi comes to the cage accompanied by All Rounder Meguru. Meguru Takayanagi has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Meguru Takayanagi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
28 - 17 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Sim Salabim!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yuuki Gou.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Salabim wants to clinch.
Takayanagi shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Takayanagi moves forwards but Salabim connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Takayanagi shoots for a double leg takedown but Salabim sprawls well. He's pushed Takayanagi's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Takayanagi tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Salabim defends well and Takayanagi ends up having to push Salabim into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Meguru Takayanagi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Salabim blocks a leg kick.
Takayanagi feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Takayanagi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Salabim swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Salabim pulls Takayanagi in close to his closed guard and prevents Takayanagi from doing any damage or advancing position.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Takayanagi avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
The fighters circling - Salabim throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Salabim throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Takayanagi stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
No luck for Salabim with that takedown attempt.
A looping hook to the body misses from Salabim. Takayanagi does a little dance to reset his feet.
Salabim pushes Takayanagi up against the cage in a clinch.

Salabim goes for a takedown attempt but Takayanagi pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Takayanagi swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Salabim.
Salabim lands with a cross.
Salabim shoots and misses
and Takayanagi counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Salabim thinking.
Salabim changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Salabim jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Salabim swings widly with a right hand
and Takayanagi counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Salabim is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Salabim throws a front kick aimed at Takayanagi's knee but Takayanagi avoids it well.
Salabim pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Takayanagi back to the cage. Salabim follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Salabim tried to score with a low kick but Takayanagi checks it.
Takayanagi throws a leg kick but Salabim sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Salabim misses with a looping right.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Takayanagi punishes Salabim's body with a nice straight punch.
Sim Salabim seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Takayanagi fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Takayanagi fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Salabim tries to sprawl but Takayanagi drives through with a takedown into half guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Takayanagi wants to pass the guard but Salabim is keeping the position.

That was a close round but I would say that Meguru Takayanagi will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Takayanagi wants to take the fight to the mat but Salabim manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Takayanagi is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Salabim has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Salabim goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Takayanagi turns into him and now he's in Salabim's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Sim Salabim showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Salabim uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Takayanagi.

Horrible takedown attempt by Salabim or perhaps it was just good defense by Takayanagi, which made it look bad.
