Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bas Koning (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cu Chulainn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chulainn has chosen The Blood of Cu Chulainn as his entrance music. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cu Chulainn!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Eddie Farnsworth and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chulainn drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Koning is trying to control the position but Chulainn postures up.
Chulainn working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Koning utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Koning escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Chulainn gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Chulainn throws an elbow that misses. Koning uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Chulainn's guard. Nice move by Koning!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Chulainn is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Chulainn looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Koning with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Chulainn working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Chulainn winds up and cracks Koning with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Koning is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Chulainn wants to pass to mount but Koning is defending the position.

Chulainn is looking to work some ground and pound but Koning has wrist control.

Koning wants to stand and escape but Chulainn is having none of it.
Koning trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Chulainn feints and as Koning raises his hands in defense, Chulainn changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Chulainn tries to free his leg and advance position but Koning is retaining full guard.
Koning has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Chulainn should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Koning has tightened it up now! Chulainn should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Bas Koning!
