The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santos pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Santos fails with the takedown.
Nelson shoots and misses
and Santos counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Nelson is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Nelson closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Santos did well to prevent Nelson getting side control.
Nelson is looking for a kimura here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nelson tries to pass to full mount but Santos defends it.
Nelson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Nelson is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Santos sees it coming and defends easily.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Nelson has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Santos defend it? Nelson steps over the head and cranks it - Santos is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Nelson!
