Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Roman Kazaev!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Jorge Garcia and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Newell connects with a looping right hand.
Newell uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Kazaev.
Newell moves out of range of the leg kick from Kazaev.
Newell stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Kazaev will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Kazaev throws a chopping leg kick but Newell manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Newell throws a series of punches but Kazaev moves out of range.

Newell jabs Kazaev right on the nose. Kazaev blinks but takes it well.

Newell circles away from the clinch attempt.
Newell feinted with a counter takedown.
Kazaev tries to clinch up.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Newell bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Myles Newell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A jab from Newell finds it's way through Kazaev's defenses.
Kazaev fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Kazaev has managed to clinch.
Kazaev breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Kazaev throws a head kick but Newell moves out of range.
Kazaev throws a nice inside leg kick.
Nice takedown defense from Newell. No joy for Kazaev on that attempt.
Newell keeps the fight on the outside.
Kazaev with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Newell to score with a decent uppercut.
Kazaev tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Newell manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Good standup being displayed there by Newell as he connects with a hook.
Kazaev should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Newell changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Newell manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Kazaev on his heels. He'll look to pass Kazaev's guard now, I'm sure.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Newell postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Kazaev covers up, he's hurt! Newell keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Newell and the ref steps in to end the fight! Newell can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.
