Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Heriberto Nichols (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rune Runman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rune Runman told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Illya Tyunina and Valeri Chadov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Runman gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Runman works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Nichols is striking but Runman is not phased and passes to half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Runman is working for a submission of some sort.
Runman looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Nichols throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Nichols wants to improve his position but Runman is controlling well.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Runman looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Nichols regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Runman.

Nichols really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Runman loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Runman slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Runman throwing strikes but Nichols manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Runman tries to bench press Nichols off him but Nichols keeps the position.
Nichols will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Runman gets back to half guard.
Runman wants to control but Nichols is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Runman is looking for a sweep. Nichols is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Nichols wants to get back to his feet.

Nichols seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Runman lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Runman throws a sloppy head kick and Nichols moves out of range easily.
Runman lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Nichols fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Runman lands a jab-cross combination.
Nichols is rocked!
Runman is looking for a takedown. Wow, that's a brutal slam - Nichols is in big trouble! Runman is landing strikes from the mount and this one is all over! The ref jumps in to save a confused looking Nichols. Poor guy.
