Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ted Grant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Oscar Ruiz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ted Grant could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Oscar Ruiz's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ted Grant! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Oscar Ruiz! The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Micheangelo Fripello and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ruiz gets tackled into the cage by Grant. Grant maintains the clinch. Grant is looking for a takedown. Grant manages to break the clinch.
Oooooh!!! Ruiz has knocked Grant down with a huge combo! Ruiz steps away and waves a wobbly Grant back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
It looks like Ted Grant has been cut. Ruiz tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Grant paws at him with a jab and circles away. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Grant, right into the meat.
Ruiz misses with a wild combination.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Nice body kick there by Grant. Grant scoring well with a low kick there.
Grant forces Ruiz back against the cage and clinches. Grant breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Grant misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Ruiz tries to clinch up but Grant circles away and keeps his distance. Ruiz rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Grant moves out of range and avoids them all easily. The fight stays on the outside here - Ruiz looks like he's thinking about clinching though. It looked like Grant was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Ruiz.
That's one minute gone in the round. Grant pushes Ruiz up against the cage in a clinch. Grant breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Ruiz scores with a sloppy right hand. Grant should have avoided that one. Grant feints and then cracks Ruiz's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Ruiz down. Grant walks into a left hand. Ruiz throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Grant counters with a series of strikes. Ruiz will be more careful next time no doubt. Grant fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Ruiz. Oscar Ruiz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Grant takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Grant looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Grant circles away from the clinch attempt.
A slow jab from Ruiz misses its intended target. Ruiz tries to clinch there but Grant circles away.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Ruiz throws a looping overhand right but Grant ducks down to avoid it. Grant rushes Ruiz and presses him up against the cage. Ruiz gets underhooks to prevent Grant's takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ted Grant. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ruiz can't break the clinch.
Grant lands a damaging elbow.
It looks like Oscar Ruiz has been cut. Ruiz is trying to force a seperation but Grant has the dominant position. Grant keeps control of Ruiz as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Ruiz can't break the clinch.
Ruiz tries to break free but Grant pushes him back against the cage. A right hand to the body from Grant.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Grant breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Grant shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Ruiz defends it nicely. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Ruiz! But no joy. Nice uppercut there from Ruiz. Ruiz wants to clinch up but Grant keeps it at a distance. Ruiz throws a low kick but Grant moves out of range easily. A punch combination from Ruiz misses. Ruiz tries to clinch up but Grant circles away and keeps his distance. Ruiz tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Grant thinks about countering with a head kick. Grant moves into the clinch. A short right from Grant on the inside. Ruiz tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Grant just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ruiz has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Ruiz working hard to break the clinch. Grant pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Grant tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Grant gets in close and instigates a clinch. Ruiz is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. A nice right hand lands inside from Grant. Ruiz is trying to break free. Grant breaks the clinch.
This has been an exciting period of action! Ruiz showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Grant.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ted Grant dominated that round. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Ruiz smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Oscar Ruiz seems to be getting the better of the standup. Grant clinches up against the cage. Grant keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Ruiz's efforts to push away. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ruiz tries to break free but Grant pushes him back against the cage. Ruiz has had enough of the clinch but Grant keeps him there for the moment.

Ruiz tries to clinch but Grant moves out of range. Ruiz works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Grant thumps Ruiz with a low kick. Grant swats away the attempt to clinch by Ruiz. Ruiz fails in his attempt to clinch. Grant tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Ruiz manages to circle out of the way. Oscar Ruiz is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Grant staying out of range there. Ruiz tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Grant manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

That has opened up Oscar Ruiz's cut even more. Ruiz looks to clinch and Grant counters with a two punch combo. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Grant fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Ruiz has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Ruiz is looking to clinch. It looked like Grant wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
