Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Marcus Gracie! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Daniel Daniels! The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Dmitry Maklakov and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Daniels shoots in and bounces Gracie off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Daniels stopping the sweep attempt from Gracie. Daniels is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Gracie keeping moving, preventing Daniels from controlling successfully. Gracie manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Daniels manages to get himself to full guard.

He's managed it... Nice work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Daniels tries to get to full guard but Gracie has control of the leg. Gracie is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Daniels is just riding it out for now. Gracie eventually gives up the hold. Gracie is looking for a kimura but Daniels is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Gracie to get the leverage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracie moves into full mount! Daniels won't be happy about that! Gracie is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Daniels has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Gracie with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.
Gracie takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Gracie wants to control the pace but Daniels is squirming around nicely. Daniels keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Daniels is controlling an arm, preventing Gracie from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Gracie looking to control but Daniels is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Daniels has worked his way to half guard, taking advantage of Gracie's lack of action.
Gracie passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Daniels! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Daniels working to try and regain half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gracie is trying to take his opponent's back.
Gracie goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Daniels turns into him and now he's in Gracie's guard.
Gracie looking for a sweep. Not yet Gracie, not yet. Gracie looking for a guillotine here but Daniels defends easily.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Gracie is on top in guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Gracie tries to pass to full mount but Daniels defends it. Daniels is looking to improve his position.
Gracie trying to mount his opponent but Daniels defends it. Gracie works his way into side control. Gracie tries to move into full mount but can't pass Daniels's legs. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Gracie has knee on belly and moves into mount. Gracie wants to finish this one by submission but Daniels is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Gracie. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Marcus Gracie dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Gracie looks for a takedown but Daniels sprawls well. Daniels rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gracie moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Daniels misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Gracie.
Daniels changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Gracie looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Gracie tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Daniels wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gracie manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Gracie keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Daniels trying to control the action but Gracie is working from the bottom. Gracie wants to improve his position but Daniels is controlling well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracie slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Daniels wants to stand but Gracie has a closed guard, so he can't escape. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Gracie is on top in guard.
Gracie forces his way into half guard. Daniels wants to control but Gracie is keeping busy.
Gracie is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Daniels!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Daniels is looking to get to half guard. Gracie seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Daniels is holding on tight.
Daniels is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Gracie has taken his back.
Gracie has his opponent's back and is working for the choke. Gracie is looking for the choke from the back position but Daniels is controlling his hands well. Gracie controlling well, preventing Daniels from escaping the position.
Gracie has his opponent's back and is working for the choke. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Gracie is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Daniels has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here. Gracie biding his time, looking for the opening.

Marcus Gracie overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Daniels wants to control his opponent's hands but Gracie gets his hands free. Gracie is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Daniels has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here. Gracie is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Daniels defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Gracie gets his hands free as Daniels looks to control. Gracie is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Daniels can do to turn this around?
That's four minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Daniels's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
