The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Stonewall is trying to control but can't.
Smith is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Stonewall doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Smith.
Smith moves nicely into side control.
Stonewall is looking for a sweep.
Stonewall is working hard here to advance position.
Smith working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Smith tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Stonewall tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Smith wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Smith is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Stonewall is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Stonewall is looking to regain half guard here but Smith keeps moving and retains side control.
Smith working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Stonewall tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Stonewall tries to strike but it doesn't land.

You can see the frustration on Stonewall's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Smith thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Smith looks gassed!
Smith tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Smith has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Stonewall is trying to improve his position.

Stonewall is trying to get back to half guard.
Smith is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Stonewall has escaped the position, nice work there.

Smith looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smith wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Stonewall, who protects the arm well.
Stonewall manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Smith is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Stonewall is looking to control Smith's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Stonewall avoid being mounted?
Stonewall misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Stonewall trying to hold on to Smith's head to control him but Smith postures up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Smith thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Stonewall's head.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Stonewall shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Smith counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Stonewall!
Stonewall regains half guard.
Smith is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Stonewall doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Smith.
Stonewall wants to control but Smith is keeping busy and won't allow it.
