Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Capone Greggio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Ruaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). David Ruaz is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Capone Greggio! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Ruaz! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Robert Twigg and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ruaz steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Greggio. Greggio sets himself, and Ruaz steps forward looking for the clinch! Greggio avoids it this time. Greggio waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Ruaz. Greggio throws a body shot but no joy. Ruaz defending well as Greggio loads up on a big left hand. Ruaz dives in and grabs Greggio's left leg, looking for a takedown. Greggio pushes down on Ruaz's head and hops out. Greggio will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Ruaz fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A counter left hand to the body from Greggio misses its target. Greggio closes the distance but Ruaz moves to the side and Ruaz counters with a lovely shot to the body. Ruaz shoots in looking for a takedown. Greggio tries to sprawl out of it but Ruaz keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Greggio manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Greggio throws a combination that misses and Ruaz counters by moving into the clinch. Ruaz drops down looking for an ankle pick but Greggio pulls his leg out and moves away.
Capone Greggio has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Ruaz. Greggio closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Greggio breaks the clinch.
Greggio throws a sloppy head kick and Ruaz moves out of range easily. Capone Greggio seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ruaz stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Ruaz wants it to stay on the feet. Ruaz moves into range and clinches up with Greggio. Greggio wants to break the clinch but can't.

Greggio escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Greggio fails with the takedown. Ruaz looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it. Greggio is breathing heavily. Ruaz takes the fight into the clinch. Ruaz has Greggio pressed against the cage, preventing Greggio from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Greggio is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Ruaz is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Ruaz seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Ruaz is pushing down on Greggio's leg trying to pass to half guard. Greggio is fighting to maintain full guard but Ruaz has managed to sneak the leg through.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ruaz decides to stand up. Greggio throws a lazy uppercut
and Ruaz counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Greggio misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Greggio pushes Ruaz up against the cage in a clinch. Greggio wants to break free but Ruaz has control.
Greggio decides to pull guard. Greggio thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Greggio definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Ruaz advances position into side control! Ruaz working away. Ruaz is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Greggio will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Greggio tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Ruaz presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ruaz looking to finish with strikes here!
Greggio is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Greggio knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ruaz on the ground. Ruaz is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet! Ruaz shoots in for a takedown but Greggio shows good takedown defense. Ruaz gets in close and instigates a clinch. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Ruaz is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Greggio wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
David Ruaz dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Ruaz fails with a takedown attempt. Greggio shoots in for a takedown but Ruaz shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Ruaz showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Greggio.
Ruaz wants to counter the offense by Greggio and move into the clinch position. Ruaz closes the distance and pushes Greggio back into the cage. The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Ruaz with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Greggio breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Greggio throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Ruaz blocks a jab. Ruaz scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Greggio wants to clinch. Capone Greggio is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ruaz has closed the distance and engaged Greggio in a clinch.

Ruaz throws a wild body kick that Greggio sees coming a mile off. Greggio moves in looking to clinch but Ruaz pushes him off. Sloppy strikes from Greggio. Those never looked like landing. Greggio throws a big shot that misses. Ruaz swats away the attempt to clinch by Greggio. Ruaz tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Greggio tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ruaz sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Greggio somewhat. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Ruaz moves into the clinch. Greggio breaks the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Ruaz shoots in for a double leg but Greggio sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Capone Greggio has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Ruaz. Greggio clinches. Ruaz is looking to break free of the clinch but Greggio has double underhooks. Ruaz drags the fight down to the ground.

Greggio wants to get up but he can't break Ruaz's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Ruaz is adopting a defensive guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Greggio trying to control the position from guard on top but Ruaz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Ruaz not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Ruaz is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Ruaz thows a huge punch but Greggio dodges it nicely.
David Ruaz has got the better of the ground game so far. Ruaz keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Ruaz stands up from half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ruaz shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Greggio as he jumps to the side. Ruaz looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Greggio misses with a double jab.

and Ruaz counters by moving into the clinch. Ruaz has Greggio pressed against the cage, preventing Greggio from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Ruaz jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Greggio walks away with a smile on his face. Ruaz gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. A head kick misses from Greggio. Greggio shoots for a double leg takedown but Ruaz sprawls well. He's pushed Greggio's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. No luck for Greggio with that takedown attempt. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but David Ruaz will probably get the nod - 10:9. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

That's one minute gone in the round. Ruaz bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Greggio's guard. Ruaz trying to control the position from guard on top but Greggio is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Greggio is trying to keep Ruaz in close.
Greggio has his foot on Ruaz's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Ruaz works his way back into a safe position though. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Greggio can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Ruaz controls the pace. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Greggio is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Ruaz sitting in guard here, content to control. Greggio has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Ruaz is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Greggio. Greggio tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops. Ruaz struggling to land strikes to the head as Greggio covers up. Greggio wants to get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Greggio is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Ruaz just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Ruaz has the hooks in. Greggio is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Ruaz controls the action. Capone Greggio has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Ruaz is not going to allow Greggio to sit and survive in this position. Greggio is trying to stand back up. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Greggio can't escape the position.
