The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice body punch from Stratton.
Pope takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Pope tries to move into range but Stratton moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Stratton lunges at Pope with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Pope's hand.

A lazy left from Stratton finds it's target.

Pope gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Stratton to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Stratton postures up in Pope's guard and throws a big left but Pope blocks it.
Stratton controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Pope knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Stratton on the ground.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Stratton swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Pope.
Stratton shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Pope eats them both and turns towards Stratton to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Pope seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Pope gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Stratton.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pope throws a shot from downtown. Stratton moves away and avoids it.
Good exchange - Stratton coming out on top.
Stratton shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Pope eats them both and turns towards Stratton to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Stratton's jab looks to have found its range, popping Pope under the eye.
Stratton wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Stratton has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Stratton bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Pope's head backwards.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Stratton manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Pope on his heels. He'll look to pass Pope's guard now, I'm sure.

Pope is breathing heavily.
Stratton loads up on a big left hand. Pope felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Stratton looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Pope can't hide his disappointment, as Stratton celebrates the victory.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Eric Stratton!
