PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Einar Magn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Emunn Samvesu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Emunn Samvesu was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Einar Magn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Emunn Samvesu!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Jeff Smith and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Magn thuds a left hand into Samvesu's body.

Magn fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Samvesu, pushing him back against the cage.
Magn has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Magn lands an elbow inside.
Samvesu is trying to drag Magn to the mat but Magn just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Magn lands with a left to the head.
Magn gets through Samvesu's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Magn lands a nice elbow.


It looks like Emunn Samvesu has been cut.
Samvesu wants to take the fight to the mat but Magn manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Samvesu drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Einar Magn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Emunn Samvesu.
Nice body punch from Magn - that landed with a thud.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Magn.
Magn stalling in the clinch.
Magn creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Samvesu's defenses.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Magn lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Samvesu backwards.

Samvesu jumps guard but Magn turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Samvesu is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Magn lands a shot to the body.
Magn presses Samvesu against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Magn lands with a right to the head.
Magn comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Samvesu fails to pull guard.
Magn lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Samvesu looks winded!
Magn lands with a left to the head.
Magn lands with a short shot to the head.
Magn lands an elbow inside that Samvesu shrugs off.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Magn stops a takedown attempt from Samvesu.
Magn pushes Samvesu back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Magn lands a body punch in the clinch.
Magn lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Samvesu backwards.

Magn lands a shoulder strike.
Magn lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Magn lands with a light punch inside.
Samvesu goes for a takedown attempt but Magn pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Magn misses the shot to the body.
Samvesu tries to counter with a clinch but Magn shakes him off and moves away.

Magn instigates a clinch.
Samvesu jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Magn walks away with a smile on his face. Samvesu gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Horrible takedown attempt by Samvesu or perhaps it was just good defense by Magn, which made it look bad.
Magn tries to bum rush Samvesu with a series of wild strikes but Samvesu uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Magn lands with a good body shot.

Magn clinches with his opponent.
Magn lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Magn lands a body shot.

The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Samvesu drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Samvesu has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Magn avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Samvesu is trying to drag Magn to the mat but Magn just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Samvesu's coach down at The Cave Fighting Team was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Samvesu's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Magn softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Magn makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.


Samvesu is rocked!
Magn lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Samvesu is still on wobbly legs! Can Magn finish him?
Magn scores with a shot to the side of Samvesu's head.
Magn throws a big uppercut that drops Samvesu! More strikes from Magn and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Samvesu lies dazed against the cage as Magn celebrates with his cornermen!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Einar Magn!
