Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mary Dunlap (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrew Ellis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Mary Dunlap! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Andrew Ellis! The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Winston Howard and Ben Hemmingworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ellis shoots and misses and Dunlap connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. A looping hook to the body misses from Dunlap. Ellis does a little dance to reset his feet. Ellis tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Dunlap swivels and escapes. Ellis avoids a kick to the body.
Dunlap moves into the clinch. Ellis jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Dunlap walks away with a smile on his face. Ellis gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Mary Dunlap has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andrew Ellis. Ellis fails to land the takedown. Ellis throws a nice looking combination but Dunlap bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ellis gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Dunlap counters by clinching up. Ellis swings wildly with an uppercut but Dunlap uses good head movement to avoid it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dunlap is trying to pull guard but Ellis has him pressed against the cage. Ellis changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Dunlap fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Ellis tries for a takedown but Dunlap circles away easily and Dunlap counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters. Dunlap drives through and clinches with Ellis against the cage.

Dunlap gets control of Ellis's arms and successfully pulls guard. Dunlap will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Dunlap seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Dunlap uses the cage to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ellis shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Dunlap pinned against the cage. Dunlap gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Ellis tries for a takedown but Dunlap circles away easily and Dunlap counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Ellis tries to pull guard but Dunlap holds him up against the cage and eventually Ellis drops back down to his feet.
Ellis tries a knee to the head but Dunlap blocks it.
Dunlap lands a damaging elbow. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Dunlap has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Ellis uses from the top position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dunlap throws his legs up looking for a submission but Ellis uses it to pass to side control.
Ellis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dunlap keeps working. Dunlap sneaks out the side door and pushes Ellis away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. Ellis looks to clinch and Dunlap counters with an outside leg kick.
Ellis shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Andrew Ellis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Dunlap circles away from the clinch attempt and Dunlap counters with a good, hard body kick but Ellis shrugs it off. Dunlap closes the distance and pushes Ellis back into the cage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dunlap tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Ellis smiles and moves away.
Ellis looks to throw a body kick and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Dunlap fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Ellis is out of range. Ellis connects with a high kick. That kick from Ellis tenderised Dunlap's leg. Dunlap is trying to keep his angry face on. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Dunlap closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Ellis quickly recovers to half guard. Dunlap is thwarting Ellis's attempts to control the position. Still in half guard, Dunlap seems content to control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mary Dunlap dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Ellis misses with a takedown and Dunlap counters with a body kick that stops Ellis in his tracks momentarily. Dunlap finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Mary Dunlap is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Ellis checks the leg kick. Dunlap blocks a head kick by Ellis.
Ellis tries to clinch and Dunlap finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body. Ellis shoots in for a takedown but Dunlap shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dunlap scores with a takedown into Ellis's guard. Dunlap controlling from the top position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ellis wants to control the position but Dunlap says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard. Ellis wants to get back to full guard. Dunlap is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Dunlap stands up and beckons Ellis to join him on the feet. Dunlap throws a leg kick that misses. Ellis scores with a crisp jab that stopped Dunlap in his tracks.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Ellis is defended easily by Dunlap. Mary Dunlap has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andrew Ellis. Ellis tries to close the distance and clinch up but Dunlap swats him away and circles back towards the center. Ellis fails with the takedown. Ellis tries to clinch but Dunlap moves away and Dunlap counters with a low kick, right behind Ellis 's knee. No luck for Dunlap with that takedown attempt. Ellis shoots in and drives through. Dunlap sprawls well. Ellis tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Ellis misses with a takedown and Dunlap counters with a head kick. Ellis is breathing heavily.

Dunlap throws a head kick that misses. Ellis looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Dunlap is fending him off so far but Ellis persists. Nope, Dunlap circles away and we're back to standing. Dunlap shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ellis as he avoids it easily. Dunlap misses with a leg kick and Ellis counters with a big head kick but Dunlap shrugs it off. Ellis throws a nice head kick!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Ellis closes the distance looking to clinch and Dunlap counters into the clinch. Nicely done. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Dunlap holds on and takes a little breather. Dunlap is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ellis can do to turn this around? Dunlap pushes Ellis off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ellis is looking to land body kicks. Ellis's jab looks to have found its range, popping Dunlap under the eye.

Ellis throws a right and a left that Dunlap avoids nicely. Ellis has a takedown stuffed. Mary Dunlap is winning the standup battle so far. Ellis takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Dunlap gets in close and instigates a clinch. Ellis is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Dunlap is keeping busy. Ellis wants to get back to striking at distance but Dunlap won't allow it.

Dunlap gets control of Ellis's arms and successfully pulls guard. Dunlap will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Dunlap throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Dunlap pulls Ellis in close to his closed guard and prevents Ellis from doing any damage or advancing position. Dunlap is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ellis has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Dunlap is proving hard to escape from. Ellis trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Mary Dunlap overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Ellis postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Dunlap scrambles and gets back to his feet.
A clash of legs there as Ellis blocks the low kick.
