PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Geoffrey Huntington Jnr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leo Katona (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Katona has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Leo Katona is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Leo Katona!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Winston Alpacca and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Huntington Jnr fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Katona to the ground. Huntington Jnr is now in Katona's guard.
Katona controls Huntington Jnr momentarily but Huntington Jnr frees himself.

Katona looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Huntington Jnr slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Huntington Jnr has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Katona is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Katona is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Huntington Jnr has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Huntington Jnr isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Katona stacks Huntington Jnr on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Katona!

Huntington Jnr throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Katona was covering up waiting for the punch and Huntington Jnr finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Huntington Jnr throws a strike but Katona rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Katona slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Katona has an Americana. Huntington Jnr didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Katona is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Katona hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
