Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Homer Simpson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Madi Baco!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Chris Saunders and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Baco tries to clinch but Simpson moves out of range.
Simpson fails with a takedown attempt.
Baco leaves Simpson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Baco wants to slow Simpson down by chopping away at his legs.
Baco scores with a sloppy right hand. Simpson should have avoided that one.
A decent looking cross lands there for Baco.
Baco swings for the body but Simpson moves out of range.
Simpson misses with a takedown attempt - Baco sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Homer Simpson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sloppy strikes from Baco. Those never looked like landing.
Baco's corner calls for a 1-2. Baco obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Simpson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Baco throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Baco misses with a body shot.

Simpson closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Baco quickly recovers to half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Baco can do anything to dispel that myth.
Well, if Simpson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Baco tries to get to full guard but Simpson has control of the leg.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Simpson wants to pass to mount but Baco is defending the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Simpson is trying to control the action in half guard but Baco is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Still in half guard, Simpson seems content to control.
Baco pushes Simpson off looking to stand but Simpson dives back in and keeps control.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Simpson is working for a submission of some sort.
Well, if Simpson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Simpson trying to mount his opponent but Baco defends it.

Baco is trying to stand up here but Simpson is controlling him well.
Baco is in trouble now - Simpson has advanced to mount!
Simpson lands a big shot there that rocks Baco but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.


It looks like Madi Baco has been cut.

Simpson working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

Baco is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Simpson locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Baco is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Homer Simpson!
Homer Simpson decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
