Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Modesto Palmer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nindza Kornjaca (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Modesto Palmer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nindza Kornjaca! The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Hugh Johnson and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kornjaca shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Palmer but Palmer pushes him off and we're back to square one. Kornjaca looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Palmer is fending him off so far but Kornjaca persists. Nope, Palmer circles away and we're back to standing. Kornjaca swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Palmer counters with a single leg into guard. Kornjaca didn't expect that. Kornjaca looking to control.
Kornjaca is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kornjaca working a defensive guard here.
Palmer throwing strikes from guard but Kornjaca blocks nicely. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kornjaca is controlling Palmer's posture. Palmer really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Kornjaca has momentary wrist control but Palmer slips an elbow through the middle.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kornjaca avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Palmer is looking to work some ground and pound but Kornjaca has wrist control. Palmer stands up from guard. Let's bang! Kornjaca shoots for a takedown but Palmer saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Modesto Palmer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nindza Kornjaca. Palmer fails in his attempt to clinch. Kornjaca lands a really nice looking cross but Palmer seems unphased.
Kornjaca shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Palmer manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Palmer wants to get back to his feet but Kornjaca is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Palmer is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Kornjaca controlling from the top position. Kornjaca must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kornjaca pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Palmer is keeping the position for now. Kornjaca got a little sloppy there for a moment and Palmer has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kornjaca has managed to get both his arms back between Palmer's legs - danger averted. Palmer is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Kornjaca trying to control the action but Palmer is working from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kornjaca working away. Palmer is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control. Kornjaca fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Palmer struggling a bit here. Palmer is trying to improve his position. Palmer bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! Kornjaca is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Palmer appears to be looking for a big counter.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kornjaca looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Kornjaca looks winded! Palmer checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Kornjaca swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Nice shot by Kornjaca. Kornjaca shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Palmer as he avoids it easily. Palmer tries to counter by clinching up but Kornjaca breaks away and moves out of range. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Palmer rushes Kornjaca and presses him up against the cage. A bit of stalling here from Palmer.
Palmer utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Modesto Palmer dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Palmer darts in and clinches Kornjaca up against the cage. Palmer tries to pull guard but Kornjaca holds him up against the cage and eventually Palmer drops back down to his feet.
Kornjaca is trying to drag Palmer to the mat but Palmer just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Kornjaca wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Palmer has him pressed against the cage. Palmer pulls guard effortlessly. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kornjaca trying to control the position from guard on top but Palmer is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Kornjaca wants to pass the guard but Palmer is keeping the position. Palmer has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kornjaca can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kornjaca connects with a couple of short punches. Palmer working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kornjaca doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kornjaca manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Kornjaca avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Palmer throws his legs up looking for a submission but Kornjaca uses it to pass to side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Palmer is trying to control Kornjaca's posture but Kornjaca avoids it. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Palmer tries to buck Kornjaca off but Kornjaca is having none of it. Palmer gets back to half guard. Palmer missing with punches from the bottom.
Palmer is not content to let Kornjaca control the position. Palmer tries to get to full guard but Kornjaca has control of the leg. Palmer is refusing to be controlled, as Kornjaca sits in half guard. Palmer wants to improve his position but Kornjaca is controlling well.
Kornjaca wants to stand up but Palmer is controlling the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Palmer is trying to stand back up but Kornjaca is controlling him

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Kornjaca shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Palmer as he avoids it easily. Palmer is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kornjaca can do to turn this around? Kornjaca throws a series of punches but Palmer avoids them all with ease. Some bone on bone action there as Palmer checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Palmer moves into the clinch successfully.
Kornjaca wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Palmer has Kornjaca pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Kornjaca manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Kornjaca is defending well against a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Modesto Palmer. That's going to take a lot out of him. Palmer manages to break the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Kornjaca is trying to pull guard but Palmer has him pressed against the cage. Palmer is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Kornjaca can't fight it off and eventually Palmer manages to take the fight to the floor. Kornjaca looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Kornjaca lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
Palmer has his foot on Kornjaca's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kornjaca works his way back into a safe position though. Kornjaca wants to control from the top but Palmer keeps moving. Palmer looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Kornjaca shoots in for a takedown but Palmer shows good takedown defense. Kornjaca misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Palmer wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Kornjaca moves to clinch but Palmer breaks away and Palmer counters with a takedown into side control. Kornjaca avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Palmer. Kornjaca manages to get back to half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kornjaca is looking to control Palmer's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kornjaca avoid being mounted? Palmer thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kornjaca's head. Kornjaca takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Palmer is thwarting Kornjaca's attempts to control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kornjaca wants to get back to his feet. Palmer scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Palmer thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kornjaca's head. Kornjaca is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Palmer's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Palmer's back! Palmer tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Palmer tries to lock up and control but Kornjaca gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Palmer is desperately trying to improve his position but Kornjaca has a good base and remains in mount. Kornjaca tries to control but Palmer wriggling away. Palmer tries to hold on but Kornjaca postures up. Palmer is looking to improve his position but Kornjaca isn't that keen on the idea.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kornjaca avoids the attempt from Palmer to control. Palmer is squirming around, avoiding Kornjaca's attempts to control the action. Palmer tries to hold on but Kornjaca postures up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Palmer is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Kornjaca is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Palmer is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes. Kornjaca controlling the pace for now. Palmer tries to hold on but Kornjaca postures up. That's four minutes gone in the round. Kornjaca can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Palmer is looking to escape. Palmer wants to hold on but Kornjaca pushes him away. Kornjaca trying to control but he's not successful this time. Palmer is trying to escape the mount.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Kornjaca looking to control and managing it successfully. Nindza Kornjaca has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Modesto Palmer is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Kornjaca looking to finish with strikes here!
And that's the end of the fight! Nindza Kornjaca comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Palmer has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
