PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Rage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Malakuko Mileli (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rage is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rage looks for a takedown but Mileli sprawls well.
Rage is breathing heavily.
Rage tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mileli paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Mileli throws a right hand that Rage ducks under and follows up with a left that Rage also avoids with ease.
Mileli looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Rage stuffs the takedown.
Mileli misses with a head kick.
Rage stuffs the takedown.
Mileli misses with a series of wild punches.

Mileli instigates a clinch.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Mileli.
Mileli is working Rage over against the cage.
Mileli tries to score a body lock takedown but Rage shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Marcus Rage has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Malakuko Mileli.

Mileli turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Mileli content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mileli wants to control but Rage is keeping him busy.

Rage wants to control but Mileli postures up.
Mileli is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Rage will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Mileli has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Mileli throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rage's waist but Rage gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mileli off to one side.

Rage drops down looking for an ankle pick but Mileli pulls his leg out and moves away.

Mileli drives through and clinches with Rage against the cage.

Mileli jumps into guard, dragging Rage to the mat.
Rage trying to control the position from guard on top but Mileli is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Mileli is working an open guard so Rage takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Rage fails with the takedown
and Mileli counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Rage closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Rage prevents Mileli from improving his position.

Rage is working for a kimura but Mileli is defending it quite comfortably.

Rage wants to control but Mileli is keeping him busy.
Mileli regains full guard. Nicely done.
Rage is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Rage trying to control the position from guard on top but Mileli is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Rage might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Rage is pushing down on Mileli's leg trying to pass to half guard. Mileli is fighting to maintain full guard but Rage has managed to sneak the leg through.
Mileli tries to roll over but Rage keeps him under control.
Rage keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Mileli works his way to full guard. Good work.

Rage passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Malakuko Mileli dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Mileli tries to clinch there but Rage circles away.
Mileli tries for a takedown but Rage sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Mileli has his takedown stuffed

and Rage moves into the clinch.
Mileli drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Rage gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Marcus Rage has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Malakuko Mileli.
Rage fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Mileli breaks the clinch.

Rage drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Rage stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mileli swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Mileli can't keep his opponent in guard - Rage advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Mileli wants to control but Rage is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Mileli wants to get back to his feet.
Rage is looking to take a break and control but Mileli is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Rage performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Rage wants to pass the guard but Mileli is defending well.
Mileli wants to control but Rage is keeping busy.
Rage trying to control from half guard but Mileli is working away.

Rage working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Rage shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Rage showed some decent athleticism there.
Rage could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Rage is thwarting Mileli's attempts to control the position.
Mileli controlling the position for now.
Rage is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Rage uses his free foot to push down on Mileli's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Mileli.

Rage moves to take his opponent's back.
Rage struggling to keep hold of the position.

Rage has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.

Rage is persistently looking for the submission but Mileli is defending it well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Rage is looking for the choke from the back position but Mileli is controlling his hands well.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Rage's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
You can see the frustration on Mileli's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Mileli is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Mileli looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

Mileli tries to escape but Rage has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Rage closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Mileli struggling a bit here.
Rage wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mileli keeps working.
Rage tries to advance to mount but Mileli instead regains half guard.
Rage is thwarting Mileli's attempts to control the position.
Rage stops Mileli from getting back to his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Mileli trying to hold on to Rage's head to control him but Rage postures up.

Rage works his way into full mount!
Rage scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Mileli?

Rage working for a guillotine from mount but Mileli is in no mood to give up.
Mileli tries to hold on but Rage pushes him away.

Rage has control of Mileli's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Mileli regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Mileli tries to lock up and control but Rage gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Rage trying to control but Mileli is having none of it.
Rage connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Mileli wants to hold on but Rage pushes him away.
Rage cracks Mileli with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Mileli is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Mileli's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Rage looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Rage is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Mileli can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Rage moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Mileli has worked his arm free - good work by Mileli!
Mileli is looking to regain half guard here but Rage keeps moving and retains side control.

Rage tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Rage has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Rage tries to move into full mount but can't pass Mileli's legs.
Mileli regains half guard.
Mileli is looking to improve his position.
Mileli moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Rage trying to control but Mileli is working from the bottom.
Mileli tries to land a sweep but no joy.

And that's the end of the fight!
Marcus Rage showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Rage has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
